Hi,

Just yesterday I noticed my goby stuck in the wave maker (chopped up) and my blenny was being devoured by my hermit crab.

Today I noticed my clown fish are a little discolored (have like a white film on them). Is this ich?

if so, should I quarantine all the fish? I have two cardinal fish that appear fine, but should I throw them in QT tank just in case?

Lastly, noticed hair algae growing on the snails and hermit crabs. Is there a specific clean up crew I should introduce before it gets out of hand?

Looks more like brook to me. Paraguard would be my treatment of choice outside the tank. If there is no possibility of setting up a QT, ruby reef rally pro would be the next option. You would need to QT all fish. @Jay Hemdal is the qt time for brook (assuming I am right on brook) the same as your velvet/ich guideline?)

As for the algae, you can scrub it off the snail or crab shells manually for now, but they should eat it (depending on the type) if it spreads off of them

Can you post a short video? I want to get an idea of their breathing rate.
From a still pic, it does look like Brooklynella. Formalin is the best treatment for that, but is tough to get. Paraguard should work, but I’ve had it fail when it should have worked. It’s still a better choice than rally pro.
The odd thing is that clowns are really prone to Brook, but the other two fish died first - a video might clear that up though.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

This morning, I noticed that one of my clowns was a goner. My tank also seems to be smelling a little too.

I have a dart fish in there, but haven't seen him in a couple of days. Think i need to find his body :(

See attached video - looks like the clown is breathing heavy

If you can’t treat the clown in a treatment tank there really isn’t anything you can do for it, sorry.
I wouldn’t add any new corals or anything until you figure out the smell, and you check all your water parameters.

My clowns have passed and the last two standing (or more appropriately, swimming) are the Bengali Cardinal fish.

I am going to treat them with Para Guard in my QT tank - - any one know for how long? The bottle says to add a cap a day, but is this for the whole time they are in quarantine?

Also, if my parameters are good and the smell is gone, can i introduce coral/anemones?

Yep - ok. Can I start introducing coral instead?
You can put coral in during a fallow period but some like to QT coral also before the DT. But remember also one of the main things providing nutrients to coral is fish in the tank and you won't have any in there.

I'm confused - you can't dose invertebrates with paraguard. If the tank doersn't have invertebrates in it, why don't you use copper or hyposalinity, they are both more effective than Paraguard is.
