ID this algae

What is this algae ? What I thought was diatoms ended turning into the weblike algae.

Interesting. I have seen this sort of web-like algae before when using live rock. Is this live rock in this tank? Is it a new setup?

I recall a video where it was identified as Dinos and the look of it was similar. To be sure you need a microscope as could just be algae.
if looks better in the morning than during the day you possibly looking at Dinos otherwise likely just algae I would say. Other indicator would be bottomed out phosphates or nitrates too pointing to Dinos.

I think you have a complicated mixture of things growing here. Can you get at it to remove it?

I have live rock, base rock and seeded rock. The tank has been up for about 4 months now. It was transferred from a smaller tank that was also at the time months old.

Well I do have a nano skimmer I’ve been trying to fine tune it. I do recall times where gravel vac to deep into the sand bed. Could it maybe be a possibility?

hmmm doesn’t really quite narrow that down for me lol. I can there a some nooks and crannies that I wouldn’t be able to reach. It comes off with a tooth brush.

This is what state it’s in right now.
What I plan on doing it scrubs all the algae I can see, change out the filter floss ever couple hours or so. Gravel vac the substrate and do a 50% water change.
Any thoughts ?

Get a cheap microscope on eBay. Cost like £30 used and will come handy later. Based on your findings you will able to set up a plan.

If you look at it under a microscope you are likely to find a mess containing cyanobacteria, dinoflagellates, diatoms, and more. Can you suction it out with a hose?
