So I was looking around my mushrooms for some baby shrooms because why not and I stumbled across this guy. I’m not sure what it is I have a sand sifting star in my tank but the red is throwing me off I don’t have an asterina problem (that I know of) so I really don’t know what it could be.
It’s about the size of a nickel a little bit bigger.

Sometimes easier to ID from The anterior view. There are quite a few genuses that resemble the stubby legs you have pictured. Asterina, leather and bat sea stars being the first that come to mind. Looking at the mouth can quickly discern 1 from another. I would sump regardless.

Looks like an asterina. Usually harmless but can breed like crazy lol.
