If you were buying a 6ft tank today, what dimensions would you go with for height and width?

Watch your depth.... unless you want to have a stepstool and can't reach the bottom unless you're practically falling into the tank

In a couple years when we remodel the main floor I am planning an 8 foot tank but this discussion is making me now consider how wide and high it should be. I wasn't before because when I am ready to purchase, the length is the only thing that is important to me. I want a tank big enough to get any fish I want.

My current upgrade plan is 72x36x20 peninsula style.
I want to access it without standing on anything.
Current 120 is 24" tall and on a 36" stand.

A 30" stand and a 20" tank will work will all my current equipment transferable to the new system.

Isn't that the the IM NUVO footprint?
I was looking at that tank too. With the 20" height any concerns for not being able to keep bigger fish like tangs or moorish idol? I love that footprint otherwise. Being able to reach the bottom with your hands without having to stand on something makes life easier. I'm just not sure though if the shorter height has any significant drawbacks.

if money was no worry, a 6ft cube! :D
Sorry...

If money were truly no worry, my 'tank' would be an aluminum 80, and I'd be able to visit mother nature's beauty every day from the back porch of my new home, moored somewhere off the coast of Maluku.

Idea dimensions: 6’ (or longer) x 36”w x 24” tall

My current tank is 27” tall and with a euro brace it’s tough to reach the bottom of the glass. I had it custom made and wish I had done 24”!

I went 22" tall for this very reason. My current 120 is 24" tall with no eurobrace. Just the black rim and it is impossible to reach a couple corners of my tank.
