Just FYI for the future… I had vermitted snails as bad as they could get, webs everywher, just insane. Only thing that worked, and worked very well, was reef snow… caught in their feeding nets and clogged thier tubes. You wouldn’t know I ever had a single one now as the tubes eventually disappeared.
Thanks for the tip! If they start to come back again I'll give it a try. Any impact on feather dusters and other filter feeders?

Got the tank moved into place yesterday and got her all plumbed up! It was my first time plumbing a tank and overall I think it went well. Unfortunately today I found 2 small leaks and of course I didn't buy enough spare parts, d'oh!

Oh well just pushes everything back a few days but it will be okay. The tank itself is beautiful and in great shape. The depth is going to be a bit hard to scape I think but I have faith I'll make it work.

Attempt #2 at plumbing is a success...so far! Yesterday I received the extra parts I ordered, well half, the other half are "delayed" according to Amazon. I began my fixes around 8am and quickly made a dumb mistake when gluing the main return. I was adding a union but glued and attached the end but without putting the part you screw over the pipe and by the time i noticed it was too late. So few hours and a trip to the LFS and Menards later, I was back in business. I decided to wait until the next morning to teting it, instead of 3 hours like last time.

It has now been running for about 8 hours and *knocks on wood* is looking to be good. I'll give it until Tuesday or Wednesday after work before I drain and get to work on the scape! Ideally this next weekend I'll be starting the cycle.

She passed the leak test and is now ready for water! In the back by the sump is going to be some mangroves and macro hence the few rocks over there. It was rather difficult scape this tank with the 14.5in water line but I think I did okay. Most of it tops out at about 10inches tall. The scape is mostly designed to be viewed from the left side and the front but the right side I still have some ideas for.

I made sure to keep a nice open path and tunnel through the rocks as I really want the scape to be a nice place for fish. Anyway here it is!

It's a slow journey but she should be filled with saltwater and cycling by tomorrow evening! My cat Gravy was kind enough to give the tank her blessing as the filling progress commenced.

One day in I have a reading of 1.5 ammonia and .01 nitrite, so we're off! I downloaded Reef Dudes schedule for the G6s. It's hard to really get a good reading on the lights with how cloudy the tank stills is but it looks like it should be good! I am also going to lower the lights about 2 inches, maybe 3. Right now they are 12" off the light surface and the light spill is pretty decent.

The Fritz Turbo really seemed to knock out the ammonia pretty quick. Had it around 3 and then it dropped quick so added some more and it's already back down to basically 0 on the salifert test. I'm currently getting a 2 or 4 for nitrites and my nitrates are reading 100 or over so that's fun. I guess I'll just need to do a few big water changes in the next few days. Should I try and do a 50% at the end of the week and see how things look?

Also I traded in a bunch of corals for credit at my local shop so looking forward to spending that! Looks like I'm about to lose my torch in the holding tank sadly but everything else looks good.

Welp ammonia has definitely been at zero and after doing some more reading, it seems nitrites aren't something to really worry about. The other day I tossed in a little kenya tree frag and it looked nice and happy after 24hrs so I decided to toss in a few more. Those then still looked good and today I added even more! ha

Honestly some of these corals look happier in this tank than the holding tank. The plan for this weekend will be to rent a par meter and get the G6s dialed in. Currently I'm just running the T5s for 6 hours. Once the lights are good to go I'll probably move over a bigger chunk of coral.

I was going to go with this tank over my Reefer 650 as I love shallow lagoons. Can't wait for it to mature and grow.

My Algae Barn delivery came 2 days late and the heat packs were not warm anymore but seems everything survived! I put a bottle of Galaxy Pods in and at night I could see them all over the glass. I also got some ulva algae for the refugium but that turned into a nightmare haha

The most exciting thing though was the 3 mangroves!

Also here is a sump shot for fun.

I also remembered that I had a bag of AF Life Source in the garage. I just did half a dose and man it clouds the tank up good. The corals didn't seem to mind and some seemed to extend their feeders a bit more maybe. I've also got even more corals in the tank and so far so good!

Only main annoyance at the moment is the skimmer won't settle but it will stop eventually. The last bit of news for now is that the ugliest have begun with diatoms making their appearance almost immediately after getting the G6s on... oh well!
