That SUCKS!

I just purchased 10 lyretail anthias from TSM (first time ever buying preqt). One was DOA (I got refunded) but the same day 2 died. They came with bacterial infections. I think another one is gonna die as well.

The guarantee only covers DOA. Sucks.
Sorry to hear that. Super sucks. At this point I’m not sure it’s worth it to buy pre-qt/conditioned. I don’t think I have ever had this many losses that were not doa from heat or cold shipping but died a day or two later.

As I feared the dot dot dash infection spread fast. It’s till in the 3 day window though so hopefully replacement although hate to see it happen. Can see the red. Not sure if happened in shipping or was previous wound.

Looks like a bacterial infection to me. :(

He will replace the wrasse as well.

Fingers crossed the blue stripe butterfly can be weaned on other food. My friend had some montis and acro skeletons so out masstick on the monti. It was already pecking at coral but here it’s pecking at the one with masstick so fingers crossed!

Any ideas why?
Nope. It never ate but didn’t have obvious issues besides that. I ordered $80 of black worms to try and temp it to eat but it died before then. Since it was under a week in the system I am guessing it wasn’t a healthy fish to start with.

remaining fish are doing great including the biota angelfish

Got the second shipment from dr reef. All livestock looks healthier this time. Fingers crossed. No pic of diamond goby as he is too hard to hold. He did accidentally send the wrong fish, a blue spot instead of a tear drop. I emailed him and he said he would send the correct fish and a replacement Pakistani which is very cool as it was outside the 3 day and he isn’t asking for shipping again. So will see how these guys do but hopefully this will end up as a positive experience.

So I was curious about why the wrap comes around the sides of the ext tanks. My friend noticed the int are the same and we wondered if it was just a manufacturing carryover. So I asked IM then took mine off…

I actually like it because you can hide pumps a bit.
Yeah I considered it, but the look of a pump vs all that open room and the fact it’s not really a design feature but a carryover I figured I wanted it out. Heck I paid for a 36” wide tank might as well see all of it!!

All the fish from Dr reef look good today. Better than last order. Very much hope the poor health was a fluke, no pun intended, and this batch is good. Even the leopard wrasse is out and about.

I would like to swap powerheads and get a standing wave but tunze are serious cash and not sure how many I would need. Still thinking about it.

Just found your post. Butterflies and wrasses seem to be a bit touchy even when they have been around a while. That Bannerfish will outgrow the tank in no time. Mine was the size of a nickel when I started qt. It was less then 2 yrs when I got rid of it. It was in my 180. Pakistan's are absolutely beautiful and as they get bigger can become bullies. Worth it though with that red marking. Mine was between 2 and 3 yrs and just disappeared one day. I think there can be serious aggresion sometimes and occasionally one pays the price. My dot dash was the runt of the herd and was as aggressive as any fish in the tank but one day it failed to show for dinner. I found it stuck to a gyre and noticed my teardrop had a scale stuck to its dorsal fin. Sure enough it was from the little guy.
butterflies are a much undervalued fish in my opinion. Even if they are predominately yellow they each have details to set them apart from the others.
good luck with them and above all enjoy them..

Thanks! Yeah the Bannerfish eats like a pig and I saw some at the zoo here and didn’t realize how readily they get that size although there seem to be a couple species so I’m not sure if there are size differences I’m happy to give it away when grows too large along with any fish that gets aggressive. Figure will just see how it goes. The threadfin is the bully right now but it’s not terrible. There seems to be so much conflicting info or lack of about what all will work with them that I fully expect to rehome a few as needed, and I’m happy to do so, still a lot cheaper than coral!

Sunday night update, no losses except one of the large snails I noticed not moving for a while. Stinky!

this last order was far more successful, now it appears all the fish are eating or at least picking around in the case of the blue spot. Happy to see the dot dot dash finally eat today, not sure about the diamond goby since I don’t see him but he is well in the borrow so I assume he is good.

there is some chasing but it’s around feeding time, when just watching the tank and they calm down I don’t see any although I’m sure eventually will be.

happy it’s finally coming together!

Ordered a tunze to try and make a standing wave and replace the powerheads which don’t hold well on the thick glass as well.

The A/C powerheads while really quite nice we’re not holding on the glass well and not providing whole tank movement. I decided to try a single tunze to create a wave since the IM is short with a eurobrace it should be able to easily handle a wave. Ordered a Turbelle Nanostream 6095 - the wide flow one. I had wanted to point it up, but the magnet won’t hold so settled on the side but for just one powerhead I think the wave is a success!

Also the leopard wrasse didn’t make it. Dr reef said normally it would be half credit but I am assuming since had issues on 1st shipment he is resending for free which is cool. The last shipment was quite good so with his service at this point I am happy with his fish and while I will give it a while more I can give the benefit of the doubt the 1st shipment was poor but overall will recommend him if things keep healthy.
