Replacement rock came. One box perfect the other some damage but doesn’t look too bad. The one is a floating rock display and I don’t have interest in that so will just shelve it. The other is pretty short but undamaged. Sure glad I rebuilt the originals since they are much larger. I will probably use the two I “made” and the new one since the tank footprint is so large.

No leaks still yay!!!!!

can’t wait for the fiji pink sand to come in. I probably ordered too much but that’s ok.

deciding if I should put any of the biota fish in the tank but they are so small I can monitor their feeding better in the small tank so should probably keep them in there for now. The goldflake could probably be moved but since he will be more aggressive so I think the Multibar will have to go in 1st when the time comes.

Plumbing isn’t fancy but secure. I didn’t take a pic before putting the shelf back but shot of above and below the shelf. Tried to secure the tubing much as I could to prevent any movement although there shouldn’t be any.

also since in front of the tank downstairs is unfinished got a floor jack just to be safe and stop any floor bounce. Worked like a dream. A good use of $150 imo. Best put in before any issues despite it going across 4 joists and on outside wall.

Well they do extend a bit more. Not sure if enough for over $60 but i suppose it will be nicer to get light off the overflow teeth more.

Got sand in there. Fiji pink. Bought 4 40# bags but 160lb was too much and covered a lot of the rock arms. Ended up siphoning almost an entire 5g bucket out but will store it. Brs calculator seems optimistic for how much sand one will need….

My proposed stocking list. Depending of course on what I can get.

Diamond goby for sand
White tail tang
Goldflake angel
Wrasse of some sort
Butterfly fish:
1-3 pearscale
Pakistani
Aruiga
Pereiwis
Teardrop
Black back
8 line

maybe a filefish too. Ignore the flame angel I decided to go with goldflake after I made the image comp. Same with the yellow tang, I just don’t feel comfortable putting one in a 4’x3’ tank. I know many people do, but I had similar size tangs in a 4’ tank and I didn’t think they appeared content with glass surfing up and down. The angel will make more use of the 3’ depth imo than the tangs that more like to dash.

there were some changes to the above but got the 3 filefish, swapped to goldflake angel and Multibar and dr reef has the following for me he could get that will ship in 30 days. That’s full stocked.

Here are the fish max size that I can find, no reference material I can find suggests larger than a 120 for any of them so I am hoping they all do fine in the 150, normally with tangs you need the longer length for their darting, but I think many of these butterfly fish and angelfish will use the depth of the tank more than say a full size purple tang.

  1. Dot Dash Punctato - 5"
  2. Bannerfish (diphreutes) - 7"
  3. Teardrop - 8"
  4. Auriga - 8"
  5. Pakistan - 7"
  6. Klein - 6"
  7. Pearlscale - 6"
  8. White tail tang - 6"
  9. Radial Filefish - 3"
  10. Diamond watchman goby - 6"
  11. Blue Mandarin - 3"
  12. Goldflake Angelfish - 8-9"
  13. Multibar Angelfish - 4.5"

Of course that is max size which might take years if ever and should there be any conflict I will rehome as needed to the LFS either for free or credit, I don't honestly care, the fish health takes 1st priority. With this bioload good thing i have that reefmat and a laundry basket of chaeto in a 150g sump!

Pearlscales are absolutely gorgeous. That orange is very hard to beat. My Bannerfish (H. Singularis) is huge— as big as my outstretched hand. Best wishes on your ultimate stocking choices! (Don’t forget a few Talbots or Chalk Bass. Lol.)

Haha thanks! I am happy to be getting from either biota directly or Dr reef. Hopefully avoid any major disease issues.

The IM is 12 square feet of room vs 8 sqft for a normal 120 and the standard 6’ long 125 and 150 are both 9 sqft but they of course are deeper.

A 6’ 180 has the same 12 sqft of swimming space and while that extra 2’ length would be great if I was a tang guy I hope the butterfly appreciate the depth more than length for grazing and exploring.
