I cannot even remember the last time I had a reef tank, let alone a wet tank. So, yes, it has been a long while. New addition to our family, bought a house, and now a new tank. New year, new tank, right?
So, a little background on this build. I had originally purchased an AquaMaxx 22 gallon aquarium to sit upon the Innovative Marine APS cabinet stand. The 22 gallon aquarium is a beautiful piece of glass. Unfortunately, my choices for a sump to fit inside the stand would not work as the sumps would be to large without modifications. So, I returned the tank and the overflow box I purchased to Marine Depot.
With that in mind, this lead me to my secondary choice of tanks… Innovative Marine’s Fusion 30L. And almost a month later, I finally have my Fusion 30L sitting in our dining room.
Gripe alert!
YES. I said “a month later” because after placing the order for the 30L, there was discrepancy with the billing through Marine Depot in which I ended up losing 2500 rewards points ($25). That’s free money gone!
And after that, UPS somehow either misplaced or lost the aquarium during delivery. It was until a “tracker” was placed during investigations that my tank turned up and finally delivered.
In any case, here is my plan for the tank as far as equipment and livestock. I already have the items which are bolded.
Equipment:
2 InTank media baskets
2 IM spin streams
IM 5 gallon reservoir
IM chaetomax 2-N-1 LED
150 watt Neo-Therm heater
BRS 4-stage RO/DI system
Neptune Systems Jr. controller
Media reactor?
Dry rock
40-50 pounds of dry special grade sand
Still undecided on the lights. May lean towards 2 Aqua Illumination Prime HD (unless I happen to win a certain contest offering lights via Bulk Reef Supply *ahem*)
I’m thinking of having a mixed reef? Mixed reef in that it would consist of a combination of softies and LPS or LPS and SPS. Any thoughts or advice?
