Anemone Updates!

My Rainbow and Acid Rain BTAs are doing great. they've both moved a bit but, I think in the last week they've found their happy spot(s). Right next to each other and, most importantly, YOU CAN SEE THEM BOTH! :D

Pardon the glass. I was gone for the weekend and am currently getting ready for a WC and cleaning. I just wanted to get some pics before I made everything mad. ;)

The RFAs both seem to be doing well, but I'm not super excited about where they've decided to locate themselves. Neither has moved since the first day they were in the tank... The Gold colored one is still in the sand. The red one is half shadowed and the half in the light looks great, the other half, not-so-much. I've been hoping they'd move a bit but, after WEEKS of not moving, I'm not sure if they will or not.

I'm going to add in another small rock structure and then get a few more RFAs. Then, it's just a few more inverts and I'm done with this tank.

A few nights ago at lights out we noticed that my RBTA was on the move (again). It was open and happy for a few weeks, but never seemed to find it's perfect spot. I woke up the next morning and went to see where it settled, but it was just gone. Like, it's only a 10g tank, and there aren't many places it could hide... Now, a few days later and we still haven't seen a trace of it. Not in the overflow, no powerheads to shred it. Just gone.

I know they're masters at hiding, but this one has me scratching my head. Everything else is perfectly happy. No weird water quality issues like with a melted anemone. It's like it just vanished. I'm still holding out hope that it's somehow hiding in the ONE spot in the tank that I can't see, but it was out and open from day one, so I don't know why it'd be hiding now.

HAHA! Well, literally 5 minutes after typing my last message, I went to change the floss pad and carbon in the tank. I took out the media tower and changed everything then, when I put it back in, it wouldn't go all the way down. I thought, "That's weird." and upon pulling the tower back out, I spotted the RBTA in the bottom of the first chamber!

It got through the weir teeth and somehow got past the media tower to the bottom of the chamber!

After a few minutes of gentle coaxing to get it to let go, I sucked him up in the mini Python and got him back in the main part of the tank. He looked pretty angry, but otherwise no worse for wear... I hope! :D

Had to fish the RBTA out of the back chamber again this morning. I wonder what it's looking for back there. :(

Decided I didn't want to keep prying it out of the back and risking damaging it, so I ordered the IM fish guard for the tank. Hopefully that solves the issue and it can find its happy place IN the tank.

Will you be running a power head later? Or no? I had to remove my power head to keep my anemone happy.

Hoping not to. That's why I upgraded the return pump and did the 2x RFGs... trying to avoid having a powerhead/wavemaker.

No updates for a while, and that's a good thing. I haven't added anything to the tank, and it's just comfortably cruising along with weekly water changes. So far, one of the easiest tanks I've ever had.

I do need to add a few more snails, though.

How long did it take for your RBTAs to stop moving around? Judging by the age of this thread it seems like it took yours a while to find the right spot. I have 2 in a 40gal AIO and one of them have been moving around for as long as I got them (its only been a little over a month). It's been driving me crazy though, one of them found a spot in like 2 weeks and hasn't moved since, and the other doesn't agree with anywhere I put it. I'll put it in a decent spot, and it will move a little bit and be happy for a few days (even a week or 2 a few times), then decide "You know what, I could use a nice walk" and proceed to encroach my corals. Right now it is at the bottom of the tank, slowly making its way back up to the exact spot I put it at 4 days ago. Its so aggravating!!!

The Acid Rain moved the first couple days, found a spot and hasn't moved since.

The Rainbow moved the first day to the back of the rocks, hung out for a few days, then has been on the move ever since. It is literally still moving. It went through the weir into the first chamber twice, split and is still moving. It did one full lap around the tank last night and ended up on the back glass, at the bottom by the sand (started at the top of the side glass by the return nozzles).

The smaller Rainbow (the split) has stayed put since splitting, though.

The rock flowers haven't moved an inch since the first night they were in the tank.

I have a line on an ECC Warp Drive that I'd like to add, and I might do a Rose as well (may even get rid of one of the Rainbows). But, it seems all anemones are different in how much they move and how frequently.
