IM Nuvo Fusion 25 Black

Hello all, I am new to R2R and figured I would start a build thread for my Nuvo Fusion 25. I plan to keep a few utility fish and stock the tank LPS heavy and highlight some cool Acans and Euphylia. For filtration I am running a large Refugium in a 10 gallon tank.

Tank has been up and running since August 2019. I started with dry rock cycled in a bio cube 14. Dosed ammonia and added Dr Tim's One and Only and Waste away to seed the tank.

Right now I have a tail spot Blenny and a fairy wrasse. I am thinking about adding a yellow corris or pink streaked wrasse for pests and possibly a Sand sifter when the tank matures a bit more.

I would love to add a tiny bristle tooth Tang that I would rehome when it out grew the tank but catching them can be a pain and I dont want to risk damaging coral in the process

For the last 3 months or so, the tank has been reading zero available nutrients. I have observed a decline both the LPS color and "fluffiness" as well as a halt in growth.

In order remedy this, I have done a few things increase the available nutrients. I started by uping the number of feedings from every other day to daily and eventually ghost feeding a little extra to the refugium every few days and stopped doing WC.

After doing this for 2 months the tank is still reading zero. I have decided to start doseing Fastart-m which is a balanced PO4 and No3 additive. Adding the recomended 5ml per 20 gallons until nutrient rise to the recomended levels around .05ppm Po4 and 5ppm No3. After that reducing the dose to 1ml per 20g testing and adjusting as needed to maintain levels.

I have also started dosing 2 part and add 5lb of miracle mud to maintain chemistry.

Tank is starting to fill in pretty well. Started feeding 3 to 4 times a day a few weeks ago. Fish and corals are fattening up and I'm actually getting readable nutrients around 10 ppm nitrate and .03 phosphate. Still working on raising and stabilizing foundation elements alk 7.0 to 7.3 dkh. Calcium 440 to 460. Magnesium 1360.

Master plan.:
-auto dosing 2 part to stabilize base elements.
-Dose vibrant to kill bubble algae / hair algae
-Continue heavy feeding cobalt flake, Rods frozen, phytofeast and reef roids, + add more variety.
-add 1 or 2 more fish
-increase pod population
-address battery backup solution

Borrowed the club parameter. I was running a the top program on my Orpheck light after seeing the par reading I am going to switch the bottom program for a few weeks to see how things grow

@Kohuku's_reef Can’t wait until some of those corals grow out some so we can start sharing! My tank is looking much better too. I started working on getting my ph up a little and the extra growth is crazy. Now off to do a water change!

It's been around 8.0-8.1. I was watching a BRS video about trying to stay closer to 8.3, and figured I'd give it a try. I have not done anything major though. Just more agitation at the surface. to release more CO2 and a longer photocycle in the fuge for the chaeto to take up more CO2.

Cyano is back for a 3rd time in 2 months. My nutrients have stay consistently close to zero. I have tried to bring them up dosing 3ml daily Britewells Fast Start-m. I am also adding 10ml per week of Dr. Tims Wastaway and removing 2.5g though atwc system. Skimmer has been off for 2 weeks

Are you doing anything to remove the cyano? Otherwise, every time it dies those nutrients are going back into the sand bed, allowing it to grow again in the future. Chemical solutions aren’t always a good answer, but in this case they work so well...I used red slime remover, and then once the cyano died i vacuumed the sand and did a big water change. It didn’t come back, and my corals/fish/inverts were fine.
