I'm taking a diving holiday in Indonesia (Bunaken and Raja Ampat). I bought an Olympus tg-5 to try and get some photos of what I love in the reef tank while out diving. I'm brand new to photography so these are very amateur. Most of my friends are sick of my photos and already call me 'fish guy', haha, so hopefully you will appreciate them more! If you like them I made an Instagram for them so I don't have to annoy my friends which is @reefertravel.

This is solid quality man, especially the macro stuff. I’m stoked to see this post as I’ve been waiting for the TG-6 to come out so I’ll probably pick it up soon!
What light are you using if any?
And I’m guessing no lens but in case you’re using one, what is it?

Also, where exactly are you? Reef looks super healthy, indo is high on my list!
Thanks for sharing

Cheers man!

Yeah, it seems to do macro really well if you can get the focus but I find the larger stuff does not come out great. Most of the really close stuff is with the camera's built in flash but medium distance is with a $200 video light. I don't have a lens, but my friend has the one that backscatter sell and it's really good. I think the Olympus cameras do better photos but the video on the new gopro is definitely way nicer than the video I get, even with the light - though I didn't try the 4k setting yet. I wonder if that will be different with the tg-6. Having said that, the go pro divers I meet all get frustrated that they can't do macro.

There are some really great videos on YouTube on settings for the tg-5.

Most of these photos were in Bunaken, it's a really nice place, but I'm in raja ampat now and it's truly amazing and not that much harder to get to.

Nice, I'm doing a 10 day live aboard in Raja Ampat next yr, Nov 2020. Can't wait.
