I'm actually local to cherry corals (if you're talking about the one in Livonia Michigan. I've been wanting to check out their facility and they say if you call ahead and let them know you're coming they're cool with visitors.

I also had a similar frag accumulation problem [emoji28]

Is there an established device or diy solution to preventing light spill from the display tank to the back chambers? Maybe some sort of small divider wall that shades the back chambers from the display lights?

Does anyone else find that it's an issue? I'm worried about potentially getting things growing in the back chambers that I don't want simply because it is getting lit from light spill from the display portion.

Small update!

one reefapalooza pickup. Need to be mindful with second tank not setup and still needing to spend money to finish it!

A beautiful blue tip torch. (50 dollars) not sure I got a good deal or a bad one but it looks amazing.

My cherry corals are itching to open after being h202 dipped. Nervous about them :(

There is a black chamber already that stops light overflow naturally. As for beaming down from above... that's a good question. I suppose you could build a small acrylic piece of black that could cover. However, it should breath so idk

Yeah, I'm primarily concerned with light overspill from above. It's not a huge thing but I definitely am noticing some growth of stuff on my skimmer and some parts of the rear compartments because of the light spill.

Have you tried an 8 inch mounting height? Might reduce spill.
I tried having them lower, but having them lower seemed to make the shadowing from my rockwork worse.

It actually looks to be making some film algae grow on my filter floss pads. Extra nutrient export when I change them out I guess [emoji28]

Some bad news...

Flame angel has passed away. Yesterday flame was acting a little off. Thought nothing of it considering everything was great the day before. Got home from work last night and the poor little guy was completely gone & already torn apart..... Graphic image below :(

I once had a Flame, same thing. Fine one second, dead the next. They are beautiful but after that experiance I am good.

Great looking cardinals, they will add some good color and movement to the tank!

Very sad to see. I recently had my flame die and it was the hardest lost I have had in this hobby.

I feel like the flame angels are super hard to keep. My brother has had like three.

Yeah man they're such beautiful fish

I believe my nitrates are coming up a little....

I am feeding pretty heavy twice a day. I've added the two fish. I hate seeing all my zoa's not as happy. I need to look into dosing I think.
