T5's are giving me issues. Not all starting up. Need to dial in the details. GHL is terrible as software. I mean terrible. But i knew that going in. Hopefully it's reliable.

I dont recommend cramming all this stuff in a stand for the record. It's a tight fit. Makes working on things more difficult for sure.

But i had limited space and wanted to test out toys for the 200 gallon being up right now too! :)

Will work on aqua scape and cleaning this tank up in the days to come....

Adjusted the return flow and vortechs. Running vortechs on at 5%.

All the modes do work at any speed, read otherwise earlier in this thread. Could have gone with mp 10's. But this super-wide even flow for sure. May adjust more.

Klir is working perfectly so far, if a

nyone had doubts on those still. Will see how it continues to operate but skimmer is basically doing nothing and klir is slowly rolling up gunk.

Lights on, water clear and lots of corals waiting out a 90 day fishless quarantine.

If tang gang gets cranky (not so far..) then they can go in the 200 gallon. But right now they look really cool in the 50 lagoon--tons of fast swimmers!

That looks awesome. I get what your saying about no room in the cabinet. I feel that way about mine and I don’t have anywhere near what you have in yours. I just went through gymnastics recently to swap out a temp probe. Can’t imagine having to change out anything under yours but just the fact that it’s all in there is quite the feat.

New to GHL and i did not plug in ethernet cables into the power bars. I didn't put them in the easiest spot.... Took two beers to get done!!

I just hope the power cords don't go bad. That's what i have the most difficult time getting to...

I can access the back of the GHL control, dosers, and KH director easy enough so changing probes and dosing lines will be not be totally terrible.

That all said, let's just say that i will not be changing out equipment for the latest and greatest a few years down the road... And i bought overpowered Ehiem pumps for a reason! lol

Who did you go with to make the lid? I need one for my IM 50 Lagoon AIO but just have not got around to ordering one. That one looks good on the tank.
Octolids.

Its nice! I prefer no lid, but carpet surfers are no fun and entirely preventable...

I like Octolids. Ol Cromag has some good ideas/products. I noticed he’s started making AIO false walls and that intrigues me. I’ve been batting around the idea of a custom peninsula AIO with bigger back chambers and he might just be the guy to build me the AIO insert. Probably not happening anytime soon though unfortunately. Was he good to work with?

I feel like you could do a cool kind close loop system with a bigger back wall (or large external over flow)! Even just drilling an existing AIO false wall and adding some pumps and putting them on random flow patterns or an old school squirt would be cool i think!

That would be pretty cool. I’m actually thinking about a custom 48x24x16 lagoon style tank with an AIO style false wall on the short end, but with about 8 to 10 inches of depth instead of the usual 4 to 4.5 inches. That way it’s still an AIO so no extra plumbing but there’s room for a real skimmer and a decent size fuge section. That would leave me with a display area of 38-40 inches by 24. All the benefits of an AIO and a sump without the plumbing. My tank is on the 2nd floor so leaks are a concern, plus I just don’t want to get down on my knees to work in the sump. Got it all in my head, just have to make it happen at some point.

So clams, macro, skimmer cranking now, and live phytoplankton i presume dropped phosphates to zero on the hanna over about three days. Nitrate is at about 10 ppm on hanna high range nitrate checker.

A little nuisance algae popping up. Probably dinos as it goes away at night. No changing anything. Just adding phytoplankton and microbater7 as I've done from day one. See how it rides unless some says otherwise for some reason...

Aqua C 180 is cranking now looks good. PH ranges from 8.06 to 8.30

Definitely worth it to rent or invest in a par meter. I bought the 520 version, plug in a computer. Works great! No weird batteries to run down and a laptop you dont need two hands to run it... cheaper too.

My par with 6 bulb T5 fixture, all blue plus and one coral plus, 2 reefbrites, and kessil 160's at a very high 10 to 16 inch (t5 's are 6 inches higher than 160's in the floating canopy) is an even 200 to 300 on the sand bed. 400 or so at top of the tank. Pretty good.

I will say that i confimed reefbrites have at least 30 or 40% more par than t5 bulbs.

Because of the clams being maxima and crocea i was not satisfied with the par for them.

Switched out the 160's with 360's, tried several reflectors, and settled in with 360's and 55 degree reflectors. I get 500 plus par for the clams in the center on the sand bed and the reflectors allow about 200 par on the outskirts of the tank for my LPS and euphilia.

I could have just lowered the light fixture.... but i love it up high. So easy to work in the tank.

Adjust MP 40's to 40% flow strength. I was able to do this by adding random "feed" cycles so that only one or two pumps in on in whatever mode (lagoon, reefcrest, etc) at a time. This is really nice flow and very random. Thanks to the guy in another post who told me!!

The front to back flow creates high flow in the front and top of the tank (for sps) and lower back of the tank is quite reduce flow (hammers and gonnie gardens are doing great with flow there).

I added a sun coral on a magnetic mount below the mp 40. Saw this another tank video. The mp 40 draws food in past the coral for automatic feeding! Well see... the guys video it worked so well he had baby sun corals everywhere!
