Straight outta 2001

so I used a SCWD with a maxijet to change up the flow, which was the style at the time.
They also made a really big one that had 1 inch threaded fittings. I used it to switch between two return lines using the aforementioned flow eductors. Worked great and was cheap. I still have it in storage somewhere. I will dig it out for my next build!

Well, so glad that I incorporated common float switches into my automation. I have replaced two of my Netune failed optical sensors within the last year. Today I was alerted to my fallback float sensors for my sump level.
Basicly my ATO kept topping off until my float switches tripped. I have a 15 min timeout due to the volume of water and the remote setup.
I am pretty sure that I am done with optical sensors at this point.
This little float switch saved my day.

Ive always heard the Neptune optical sensors (and ATOs in general) are complete garbage

I admit that they are sort of terrifying, and I hadn't run one in like a decade...but I set one up a week ago and I'm like "oh yeah...that's why people use these."
This is why I stet up six points of failure using four different technologies.
It is easier and super convenient to have an ATO but things break so I understand why people would rather trust themselves.

I gotta say aside from the few issues I've had with my powerbar (Coralvue is finally replacing it) the Hydros ATO with optical sensor is hands down the best I've ever had

Do you have the XP8 power bar?

I think my system is rather fail safe. I use Tunze ATO first of all,

1) The optical sensor needs to fail
2) The mechanical float switch needs to fail
3) the pump safety limit timer needs to fail
4) the apex controlled salinity probe will need to fail turning off the ATO if salinity decreases at a certain salinity.

Plus I only have a 20 gallon reservoir so it can’t do much damage even if filled all the way. (260 gallon tank)

Haha based on the rest of your thread, I am not at all surprised that you have an ultra-redundant sophisticated system.

At least you have 3 solid options. That salinity probe cant be trusted, lol. Im at just over 3 years of service and now my probe wont calibrate for squat.

My setup did fail safe. I am just upset that my $35 optical sensors are only lasting a year on average while my $1 float switches have never failed. Go figure.

I noticed you only had a thumbs up and a like. I added the heart eyes to your thread. :D
Thanks for the hearts. Odd though because I have lots of loves (even with the sand). Good looking out. I appreciate it.

Those reactions are for the original post of each thread. If nobody gave a heart eye reaction in the original post of this thread, it would not show up. :)

I spend wayyy too much time here FYI. I think you can relate. :face-with-tears-of-joy:
