Am I missing something on the newish IM 240 gallon? I was about to order the version with a stand, not compete system with sump, but the price seems off. The 240 ext is $5670.50, thats 23.63/gallon. The 200 ext is $3583 which is 17.92/gallon. Why is there such a huge jump in price for 40 gallons? The glass thicknesses are all the same. That’s $2200 additional for 40 gallons.

The 240 is 8’ long no? The 200 is 6’
Weight and shipping probably the bulk of it. Extra material on stand and glass etc

I believe it's because of the original price of the sale the 200 Ext is around 7.5k, while the 240 is 10k. So half and half leads to a price gap of $2200.

$7165 and 11,340

Same logic applies, why is it $4000 more for 40 gallons?

Length difference is 12”. That’s not going to result in an additional $2K in packaging.

I don’t know. I have the 200 and it was like 470 dry weight, just the tank itself. You’re easily over 500 with the added foot of 3/4” glass. Either way it’s still a heck of a deal. Better than getting a Red Sea and watching it blow out lol. Custom builders were quoting me 5-6k for tank alone in that size range.

I think the 200 is a better buy but the 240
Is a good deal as well compared to what’s out there. These tanks and made in China and ship from Cali.

Regardless Just take the 200, save the money on the extra 40 gallons and use it to buy fish and corals :D
Well this was effectively the reason I posted this. I want the biggest but I don’t want to waste the money on the additional size of it’s a bad deal. I feel it’s a bad deal but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. It does not appear that I am.
