Innovative marine messiness protein skimmer or tunze 9004

I have a 50 gallon innovative marine lagoon with a innovative marine midsize protein skimmer not sure if I like the skimmer it seems to be weak. Was thinking about getting a tunze 9004 protein skimmer but would have to get rid of my filter sock. Pros and cons. Any advice is very much appreciated

Well I just replaced a IM skimmer. You got the square white midsized one I take it? Yes its weak and hardly skims at all.
I just replaced it with a Tunze Comline; 2 weeks later, so far not impressed with the Tunze either. Its skimmate is thin and is hard get right

Not the white one (ghost skimmer) it’s the black im midsize dc skimmer. Do you know of any other skimmers that will fit in a aio tank? What size tank do you have?

I have IM40 and use the Nuvo Skimm now. I did use the old ghost one too. The replacement is far better than old one, I went IM's since I did't want to loose one of the outer chambers. If you have room some do a hang on the back. i don't. Haven't seen any other internal ones for our tanks

And yes I have heard that that is why I went with the nuvo just getting concerned that it is dying I wish I thought about a hang on skimmers when I set my tank up because I set it so close to the wall in the back I am not able to fit one. But lesson learned hahaha and that was my thing was not looking loose my outer chamber either I like the filter sock and media filter am having some algae problems at the moment but trying to figure it all out do you have any pictures of your tank? Would love to see it here are a couple of mine

How old is the tank? Better to post pics without blue lights, this helps the experts give better diagnose. also helps post tanks parameters as well.

I like the Purdy filtering that IM makes..

I have the same tank with the tunze 9004 dc skimmer and love it! I can see other people being blah about it if they have the AC model. Mine collects like a champ!

you had to remove the filter sock to fit it correct? Do you like it better then the filter sock and Im skimmer does it collect everything? Just trying to get as much in put as possible! Been debating on it for almost a month now and have been looking everywhere for info tia for the help! Happy thanksgiving

I like it better then sock, I feel the filter floss in the caddy does just fine.

well I just finally got my hands on one they are so hard to come by always out of stock everywhere. Should be here next week thanks for the input!

I found them at BRS, I always buy the Full Size it gives an extra half. so when I get 2 it gives me a 3 month supply. Hopefully IM will sell just the fiber balls and then we can add our own media.

Just installed an Icecap K2-50 on the IM lagoon 50 in the second chamber. Had to modify it a bit to make it fit still needs tweaking, but it seems to be doing the job. It is very noisy, but I noticed if I lift it a little it become relatively quiet. Need to find someone with a 3D printer to create a small bench to keep it elevated a bit. I really like the Icecap skimmers, I am using the K1 Nano on the IM lagoon 25 as well. Check those skimmers out.
