A few things for today:

I neglected to include the light fixture height over the water in my lighting post. The lights are 12 inches from the water surface to to bottom of the lights.

I have received several request for equipment breakdown; so here is a mostly complete equipment list with the product website, as well as where I purchased everything from.
I tried to include everything that I used, but I am sure that I missed something.

Update time...

A few things of note:

My Melanurus Wrasse has transitioned from a female into a male. I did not notice when exactly this happened but when someone mentioned to me how vibrant the fish was I commented on how the males have even brighter coloration. While the words were coming out of my mouth I realized that I now had a male Wrasse.

My starter frags have grown nicely into small colonies.

I did lose my Purple and Green Blastomusa wellsi that had about 12 polyps. I have been balancing the flow pattern in the tank and I made an adjustment that caused the Blastomusa to get covered in sand. I did not notice until several days later and it was too late. This was 100% my fault and caused by me not paying close enough attention to the tank and corals. I feel terrible about causing this loss. It was one of my favorite corals in the tank.

I have rearranged the rocks a bit to mitigate sand movement. I did use a finer grain sand than I usually use. I wanted the clean look that comes with a fine white sand and knew that it would require additional work to pull it off. This has been one of the most challenging things to take on with this reef tank.

My Versa pump failed and I needed to send it off to EcoTech for service. That whole situation could have gone better but at the end of the story I have my pump back on my reactor.

Late September I added several Acropora, a few Montipora, and a Euphyllia to the tank. All are doing well and growing.

I started to dose Nitrate and Phosphate to raise my levels into a detectable range. If I need to continue this long term then I will make my own supplement. For now I purchased Brightwell NeoNitro and NeoPhos to raise the levels. I have been dosing to achieve a Phosphate level of 0.02 and a Nitrate level of 0.5. My Phosphates have seemed to reach a stable level of 0.02, but my Nitrates are still undetectable with RedSea and Hanna Checker tests.

I have needed to add supplementation to keep my Calcium and Magnesium up. The Seachem Reactor media that I have in my Sulfur reactor has done a good job of keeping up with the demands thus far. However without any Nitrate in the system the pH within the reactor has not been low enough to dissolve enough media to keep up. To keep the levels up I have been using Kamoer X1 dosing pumps to add 20ml of Aquavitro calcification and 2ml of Aquavitro ions daily. As the Nitrates eventually come up I should be able to remove or eliminate this supplementation.

I removed the Trident from the system for several reasons. I already have the KH Guardian monitoring and supplementing Alkalinity, so the Alk was redundant. Calcium and Magnesium are easily tested weekly or monthly at a fraction of the cost.

I'll be sure to add some photos in the coming days.

Nice progress, your fish and corals are going to grow very nicely into that open space. How long is your tank, and how is the overall circulation?
Thanks, the tank is 70.9"L x 30"W x 21.7"H. For circulation right now I only have one Tunze Stream3 running at 30% in the back left corner and CPR eductors on the returns. This provides lots of flow throughout the tank with an area of lower flow on the left side below the returns and overflow for LPS.

A small update. I added carbon to the tank using a BRS mini reactor. I have this off to the side for now but will Integrate it into the main plumbing at some point.

I wanted to uses this as a demonstration of my home made brackets that I made to replace the stock Trigger Systems brackets that come with alot of their sumps.

By brackets, I am talking about the acrylic part that they use to locate return lines.

I asked them (Trigger Systems) if I could purchase additional brackets as the sump that I have has locations for three brackets but only comes with one. They quoted me $25 each without plumbing fittings and I can only assume that shipping would be an additional cost. Shipping was not explicitly disclosed in our email.

I decided to make my own universal cable / plumbing fittings in leu of purchasing them from the manufacturer.

I just took a few peicees of UHMW plastic and drilled three holes in them, two for the mounting screws and the one in the center that would clear a peice of one inch PVC pipe. Then I cut a slot down the center into the the center hole which would allow me the wrangle cables into the center hole.

Now I can use the existing mounting points on the sump for plumbing or cords, and it didn't cost me anything.

Your tank gives me hope for the future and long journey I am about to go on.
Haha...thanks for that. I know that you already know this but I feel like I need to say it anyway. It's not going to be all rainbows and unicorns. There will definitely be some pick sixes along the way too. Like Georgia vs Alabama...

I am working on my photography skills. Basically that means taking 100 bad pictures for every one that still is not great. My subject today was Neon, my Atlantic (Caribbean) Blue Tang (Acanthurus coeruleus).

Don't mind the salt on the glass spoiling an otherwise decent photo, I have since cleaned it...

BFFs cruising around the tank.

A bit out of focus but nice fins.

That is how we started as well. And yes, 4 years later we are still at the same level...
Nice pictures!
