Regular old Instant Ocean for me. Been using it since I started 8 months ago. Mind you I only have two basic corals among my fish, but it should be just fine to use in a proper reef.

My bucket is 5 years old and I have been using mine over 2 years now for my 65 gal. I use 10 cups for a 20% w/c every couple of months, 10 gal qt, 20 gal sump, have about 20+ gallons of left need 2 refill my bucket (2 50 gal bags should do it). I just got started back n the hobby 3 years ago (when I moved).

Instant ocean has the same elements as reef crystals but reef crystals has higher concentration of trace elements and calcium for corals. You can use either on just live rock and if instant ocean used on corals it will just have to be dosed more to meet the calcium requirements

Ok I was thinking about that. I was thinking about getting a couple of BTA's, some rock nem's & and couple of polyps.

Instant ocean is fine for reefs too. The parameters are no problem.

I use reef crystals and love it. I’ve used a few other salts and this one is the best. You can use the purple for a reef, but might need to bump up the dkh to where your tank is at. You don’t want a huge swing in the tank with your dkh
