The engineer goby and it’s brother, the snake convict goby, are the only two inhabitants of the pholidichthys family. While the engineer goby is a widely owned fish, it’s brother the snake conflict goby (pholidichthys anguis) has no recorded cases of domestication and only very few pictures of it can be found online (90% of them are very old pictures, I wonder why?). Does anyone know the tall tale of the snake convict blenny and care to share it? This wild goose chase has me very interested, so I will be glad to listen.

(photos below are literally the only photos that exist of them on the internet)

Would be interested as well if anyone new anything about it. I had an ocellate eel blenny(Blennodesmus scapularis) which looked and acted similar to the more common Green Wolf Blenny. But the ocellate was smaller, and non aggressive with other fish. Loved it. Had it for 5+ years before it died. Great fish. Would love to find another again. Here is a pic.

That’s brave of you to get a fish that doesn’t get much talk online. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you hear of it? Because there’s not much spoken of it online.
Also do you think it would fare in a 40 gallon? I am very under stocked and I’ve been looking for a match for my tank for a while.

Got it probably 7yrs ago on liveaquaria divers den. Had 3 aquariums at the time, felt I could have found a way to make it work. Research I did told me from Australia, shallow water found in tide pools etc. some risk to cuc. Only hot about 5 inches. Used to annoy my Jawfish, as it would want to try to get in their burrows, as it loved to weave thru the rock work. Just enough to annoy the Jawfish, but not enough to make them stressed. Only saw it for sale 1 other time on divers den, did not buy it the 2nd time as I still had mine, and had a pretty good feeling that 2 would not work together. Been in the hobby long enough, that I am really only interested in getting rare things that I can learn new things about. Slim pickings of new fish in the hobby that are not in the hundreds or thousands of dollars.
