Favorite inverts are the ones that you discover by accident and have to wonder how they got in and how long have they been there. (As long as you also discover they are not a threat to anything) Also have had a single nassarius snail that I added when I first set up tank and have probably only seen a handful of times. Added another recently and the first was instantly out of the sandbed and was following the new one all over the tank, around the bed, up the glass. Was like a slow motion car chase. They eventually balled up together, my hope is it was lonely and finally found true love.
next invert to add is a conch, think they are adorable and want sand stirred some more.

Yes I know coral is technically an invert but let's leave them out of this discussion!

One of the coolest aspects to this hobby has to be those little critters we call marine inverts! Whether it be a fancy looking shrimp, a colorful starfish inching his way across the glass or an elegant fan worm dancing about in the water column, marine inverts can make for interesting additions to a saltwater reef aquarium. So let's talk about them today!

1. What is your MOST FAVORITE marine invert and why?

2. What invert would you like to add to your tank in the future?

I like my Florida Fighting Conch. So different from everything else in the tank. (Well, I guess it's kinda sorta like a snail... only much bigger. lol)

Clams for me!
I love the variety in color, and the fact that they will continue to grow and show progress.

Find myself staring at my anemones the most, so I voted anemone.

But a close second are my shrimp: Tiger pistol, cleaner, the one that lives inside an anemone (you know who you are), and the harly pair. All have tons of personality.

Notable mention: berghia nudibranch gang for doing what they’re supposed to be doing *side-eyeing “aiptasia eating” filefish*

Trochus snails and Asterea snails for algae clean up. Nassarius snails when something is sick or going to die.

My favorite are anemones have them in all of my tanks. Love it when my clowns finally decide to leave my torches alone and host my anemone.

It's a complicated answer for me. I would vote anemones but I feel that they are too close to corals to count as anything else. My absolute favorite marine invertebrates are tunicates, no contest. They are so unique and interesting and I wish they were easier for the home aquarist to culture. Close second would have to be Nudibranchs, another near impossible group of animals, and third would be longspine urchins, of which I have owned several.

I would love to add some more sea hares to the tank (absolute best algae eaters) but my giant Condy just can't stop killing them! If I ever get rid if it though, I would love to get some more sea hares and lettuce slugs. Another longspine would be cool too, but this current tank is just too small I think. Someday I'll make a tunicate lagoon to culture them in (perhaps as an offshoot of a larger tank) but for now I'm happy with what I have.
