That truly is the ideal people want by and large, a sort of internal balance vs external work dosing.

I’ve been dosing H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) for months and there are many threads here about it. I started dosing when I got dinos just to help with the battle. Dinos went away and I stayed away from algal blooms. I then got some cyano in some low flow spots. I added flow but also started to slowly dose more H2O2. The end result was clean beautiful purple rocks. So I dose 5 mL (6% solution) daily by hand to my 130g. Only downside is my zoas close up for 5 minutes almost immediately but have no long term downsides.

Here are the beautiful, clean purple rocks with healthy SPS.

Curious to hear others’ experiences. And no I don’t see this as a fix to algae problems but just part of a maintenance regimen.

How did you establish that dosing rate?

Did you have an O2 meter to assist with dosage rate?

H2O2 stops working when it is subjected to light. I wonder if fuge lights would do this as well. I am sure if you dosed while the DT lights are on, it wouldn't work as well. I am wondering if my fuge light would kill it, stopping it from destroying my macros.

Good question! (I have no idea but hope someone does.)

so much room for new discoveries agreed. if it helps any in planning, people with orp meters routinely post a drop (paradoxical, the rise is expected, Randy thinks this is organics-modulated wanted to relay) and then a rebound within 4 hours. we think its neutralized within 4 hours of tankwide addition, that's its functional time. we add lysmatas back in 4 hours after big doses.

H2o2 is amazing stuff in a reef tank it kicked dinos butt in my tank and only affected some snails and 2 skunk and 1 fire shrimp and I dosed way more than the recommended 1 ml per 10 gallons I ended up dosing 2ml per gallon for 5 days and destroyed dinos!

No id say corraline algae is the secret to clean corraline covered rocks :)

Im the h202 king here. Ive dosed more than anyone ive seen here. Ive dosed 10ml of 30% peroxide into my 125 gallon. It kills mostly everything, algae, corals and irritates fish at that amount. Finding the sweet spot is hard. It literally dissolves algae. For me its useful but comes with caution and risk.

@brandon429 You mention Lysmata shrimps, I have a skunk cleaner, is H2O2 a no no when you have one of those? I wouldn't want to kill it but I'd take the help with unwanted algae...
I’m just finishing a twice daily 10 day, 3%-H202 at a rate of 1ml per gallon, lights out treatment and I’ve had no problem whatsoever with either my Fire or my skunk shrimps.

The only thing that was unhappy was the Cyano.

Nice clean rock and sands.

You would have a problem if you dosed it near him.

NIce nice.

and yes Cory for sure had the highest level sustained that was what many folks on reef central considered total wipeout levels but yours adapted quickly.

I had great luck with mine dosed 300 ml of 15% H2o2 with approximately 150 gallons of tank water. It did kill a ton of gha.

Yup! For 3 days straight day and night.
Ok you win lol. Any corals? When i dosed 10ml of 30% the skin of fish would bubble from it. If i dosed 125ml of 30% which would be about the same as 15% at 300ml to 150 gallons, i think it would kill my fish too. But i didn't have any sand its bare bottom so its possible having less organics to oxidize increases its effect. 10ml killed dinos very well. But they always came back. Uv sterilizer got rid of them.

I ran 20 mil of 3% total water volume of 125 gal. It cleared my water but not much else. I did this for a few weeks. What is the gha killing dose and dosing schedule?

Thought this would be a unique post.

these are the biggest longest peroxide work threads I know of, their utility is getting to see the evolution of peroxide work unfold like a paper flip cartoon it’s about 95% happy reefers, any forum sampled, valuable tool.
Shows doses, before and afters, and slaying of reef invasions. You won’t find recycles here in patterns, nor kills of microfauna in pattern.

anyone considering peroxide has a matched tank somewhere in these bazillion logs.

thanks to the widely-accepting link sharing options at reef2reef i present this salad of peroxide works for review:
fifty pages:
65 pages:
62pages
30 pages all direct rock applications not much tank dosing:

Also, quit voting no bc thats a bunch of yes above. That’s 400 reefs or so there + 400 or so in private message per site.
