Have you checked your water: ammonia, nitrates?
What do you have him in? Is it a holding container of some type?

Well, you answered your own question. Nitrates at 20 wouldn't be a big deal, but ammonia at .2 is a big deal.

20 is not to high for fish . What are your other test results? Need to know your ammonia level for sure.

With those numbers, is your tank completely cycled? You were smart removing him from your tank. Looks like a baby, did you just get him? How did you acclimate him to your tank?

It's so hard to say with new fish what's wrong with them. It could be bad collection practices. It could be diseased tanks where they were being held. The list goes on. Most important thing to do now is to try and keep the fish stress free and offer it food that it can't resist.

Yup, tough to say, some will acclimate, some won't.
