Hi everyone! I recently started dosing a product that contains the following ingredients:

  • Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis, Isochrysis sp. (Marine Phytoplankton)
  • Citric Acid
  • Sodium Bisulfate
  • Sorbic Acid
  • Sodium Benzoate
  • Sodium Chloride

I’ve just started using it and wanted to make sure it’s completely safe for my tank. I have a saltwater setup with corals and some filter feeders. While the marine phytoplankton seems great for the corals, I’m a little unsure about the preservatives (citric acid, sodium bisulfate, sorbic acid, and sodium benzoate).

I know these are probably in small amounts, but I don’t want to risk upsetting my tank’s balance or harming any sensitive organisms. Has anyone here used a product with similar ingredients? If so, did you notice any issues with your water parameters or livestock?

Thanks in advance for your advice and feedback!

Do you have SPS corals, sponges, clams, scallops, bryozoans, tunicates, sea fans, filter-feeding sea cucumbers, and many annelid worms such as feather dusters or Christmas tree worms.

I usually see little value in products like this except for target feeding the list of things it’s talking about
