Ive had this chaeto since the tank started. It started as a small ball and expanded to cover the surface of the sump. The past few months, it started turning yellow/white on top and floating oddly. I try to flip it often but it doesnt seem to be growing well or consistently, and now I have a cyano issue (only on the glass oddly enough it isnt sticking to rock or sand).

My nitrates are around 0-5, I still need a Phos test kit. I feed a hand full of pellets to a few fish once every day or two, and have a skimmer running.

The fuge is lit by one of the newer ai prime fuges maybe 6-8 inches above the water and through a lid on the sump, at about 40-50% at a reverse light schedule to my main tank light, so like 6 pm to around 7-8 am.

Am I burning the chaeto? Is it not getting enough nutrients? I had read that dosing iron supplements can help, would chaetogro do me any favors?

Is the chaeto clean? It kind of looks like it may have some other kind of algae, bacteria or dino growing in it?

Mine does that when it grows out of the water. The other algae in your chaeto is making it float to the surface. Take that chaeto out and try to rinse it free of the other algae. Try to keep it submerged. Or trim back the stuff on the top
