Just noticed this stuff slowly creeping on it. It's more white than it shows in the pic. Kinda looks like a fine filter pad.

Looks like a sponge, Not harmful. If it starts to grow on the mat you can use a toothbrush to clear
Will it take over the gsp? Will a dip remove?

Am I over reacting?

I should note that this is growing close to a part of the gsp that has receded (tendril on the left)

I wouldn't dip.... follow what @ufdrew79 recommend. GSP is pretty much indestructible for most, although it doesn't thrive in my tank.

It is a suffocating sponge left un-checked. It will cover zoas and other polyps. I would get the rock out and brush off with toothbrush. May need to do this a few times. Sponge is great, but sometimes you have to trim it back like the corals.

So I waited till all the corals were tucked in their beds, and then I struck!

It looks like the GSP grew over something, but i can't tell what. It's not crushed coral, it's almost like a hard foam, but there were other bits I cleared out as well.

Either way, it gone now (along with the small part of dead coral)
