No snail, even a large conch is a match for that monster of a hermit, super cool though!

I chock it all up to "we replace CUC anyway, so go for it"

Oh I guarantee he did. Hermits dont care, if food is floating by, if a snail is near, they choose the snail. If it had alot of snails, it was probably hard to notice it killed some. Its how nature intended anyway. I happen to enjoy hermits in my reef even though lots dont. I have plenty of murdered snail shells in all parts of my sand bed. Its just one of those things. My vote is to keep it as long as you dont mind if it does kill a snail or two occasionally.

I havent had my two halloween hermits eat any snails not sure where this comes from ? I find them just very cool to look at and watch them but my snail population is the same as the day i got the halloween hermits.

Every animal is different though maybe some have a taste for snails and some dont.

But generally halloween hermits are considered " reef safe " meaning they do not kill or eat other inverts haha

Id go with blue or red legs unless you want it for looks. I buy different size snail shells and place them in tank to minimize snail aggression. My dwarf hawkfish is named killer he killed my shrimps sometimes you get one of those. Now I don't have shrimp but he doesn't touch crabs or snails. If he becomes a serial snailer just sump him and it will be fine.

+1 on the snails, but I think they're worth it. They do everything that snails do except clean the glass. Keep it, and get a tuxedo/halloween urchin for the aforementioned glass. I hope that this helps!
