Hi, I had wanted a yellow eye kole tang for a while now and I’v picked up this fish today.

but the guys in my lfs didnt seem 100% sure it was a kole tang.

it has yellow around its eyes and a greyish body, i can see some faint stripes on its sides, with a whitish tail
So maybe a white tail bristletooth tang?

they mature similar to a kole, a bit more red?

Why not though, mine just hasnt developed the spots/strips yet? The rest is similar. Or is it the shape, dorsal fin?
I understand that you want it to be a bristletooth tang, it just simply isn't. Nothing about it is right, wrong fin shape/body shape, wrong patterning, and wrong color. Zero % chance its a whitetail. Vetteguy is probably right on his Id, but that is less certain. I'm sorry this is the case but it is.

They don’t need to develop them. I’ve seen 2” white tails with the stripes and spots. It’s not a white tail. Also, yes, the fins don’t match. Looks like dussumieri to me.

Everything they are listing above. In addition, whitetails actually are more of a yellow as juveniles.

Ok, seems like it could be a couple of different tangs then, which get quite large. Maybe ill have to wait and see how it matures.

i had actually wanted a purple tang but decided against having to move it when it got larger, looks like I may have to move this one anyway now!

Dussumeiri look really cool, esp with the blue face markings. Any idea how long before my one will outgrow my reefer350? Its 3inchs or so now
