Hi,

I was wondering if this is an NPS coral and if it is how should I feed and keep it? It doesnt open up its polyps under lights it extends its polyps during daytime when the lights are off.

PS: I have scheduled my lights to run in the evenings with the room being dark in the mornings so that I can enjoy my tank when I am home.

Cheers!

Looks like a flower tree coral. That’s a NPS, yep.

They tend to like low light, it’s not unusual for NPS corals to have their polyps out after the lights go out. They need to be fed regularly, with phyto, reef roids or other small food.

Just FYI, long term success with that coral in the home aquarium environment is rare, but some people have been able to do it.

Good luck!

Before answering feeding question, tell us your filtration system, add lots pictures. Then we can provide which feeding regiment best for you. Sorry late reply.

thanks for the reply, sorry I didnt get back to this as I had a tank emergency and I lost 4 fish. The filtration I am running is skimmer only. I had carbon and GFO running but I gave up on GFO and switched to carbon dosing NoPoX by redsea. However when I run activated carbon in my carbon reactor the corals dont seem to like it and close up as soon as the water runs through the carbon.
