I've had this problem a long time ago to the point I've tried quite a bit to remove it.

Here are the "treatments" I've tried

Shutting off the lights for more than 5 days
Dosing hydrogen peroxide for 5 days

Not much of a success, the tank is currently empty since I had a ich outbreak in it and I believe the nutrients have definitely spiked due to the macroalgae dying because of the algae growing on it

Just for comparison, there is also a photo of how my macroalgae looked before getting absolutely covered by another algae

It looks like hair algae to me. You may to adjust nitrate and phosphate levels, change or add new members to your cuc, reduce white lighting.

Yes, the algae on the rock is indeed green hair algae, but what I am after is the red algae which is on my macroalgae, do red hair algae exist aswell? I've yet to see that!

I can't say for certain, but I would guess the hair algae is out competing the red macro. You might do better with some chaeto for nutrient reduction.
