On occasion, pretty frequently actually, it seems to exude some small white threads. The clump is less than 1mm wide. They do retract when the scoly is full. Odd.

Any insight?

Those are Mesenterial Filaments. Sometimes these are used as a defense mechanism, other times they could just be an indication that the coral is a little grumpy. Has anything changed recently? (chemistry, lighting, flow) Are there any other corals nearby?

Are you referring to those purple dots/bumps in the close up image?

Hmmm. I've moved it twice since I've had it, and don't think it's ever really been close to anything - 3-4 inches from a frogspawn most recently.

I'll change out my GAC, and am planning a water change this week, so I'll se if there a reaction.

Thanks guys!

Mine do it when they are getting ready to open up to feed.

Yeah, but they're not purple. They stark white, and the blues are affecting the picture.

Any update
Still does it.

I changed my carbon. I've done a water change since last posting. I've fed it a couple times. It just does it all the time, even as its feeding. I have no idea why.

In general, it seems much smaller than when I first acquired it. I wonder if I don't feed it enough?

I had the same issue with my meat coral, and I show it to my local fish store and they told me it is most likely a bacteria infection. Long story short. I couldn't find a way to cure it. It eventually died.

I know this is the old thread. I just wonder. Is the scoly doing okay? I experience the same thing right now.
