Hi all,hope all is well.

I bought the purple tentacle torch 4 days ago ,I asked lfs guy to lift it up and see all flesh still in tact and all looked well with it,which it did.it was next to some green torches and pinkish torches.
Got packed just simply in a bag of water and once home dipped it then put into tank ( 30 minute drive) straight away as put in tank I noticed bit of flesh looked missing/ slightly coming away from Skelton so turned the torch around so less flow on that side.
Today wake up and lights come on and see my other 2 torches open as normal but new torch flesh ripped away and tentacles half ripped off and looks like dark brown on some the polyps.
I've read some threads on bjd and states act fast and get affected coral out tank ,problem is no qt tank so would need to throw away completely,
I put in container abd blew all loose polyps off and placed back in dt.

You think stress of being in bag and rubbing on flesh as its moving around caused flesh to rip then whatever this bjd is kicked in ?
Any future corals I buy I will be taking my own plastic cup and elastic band and bagging it myself so coral can't rub on nothing.

Parameters just because most ask ^_^
P04= 0.1
Calcium 440
Mag= 1260
Nitrates 40
Ph 8.1
Alk 7.7
Not tested amnonia or nitrites in long time
Sg= 1.026 stable
Temp 78 stable

Did feed torch little brine shrimp last night ( 3rd day ) maybe shouldn't target fed it so soon also .

Torch is back in dt now and retracted alot.
Video took just after spinning coral around to get look at why tentacles not coming out properley so even more closed up than it was .

So big question is what to do ?
Keep in dt or bin it ?

Will tag @Mibu @taricha

Tank been up around d 9 months

55 seconds- 1.07 mark in video it's dark brown but looks like inside one of the polyps like maybe zooantheli or however you spell it idk lol

I don't know if those work well like the iodine dips do for our coral, what dips do you have on hand? But, witch hazel is needed and is very helpful.

I didn't know a lot of uk people made meth.... What a way to ban things.

Also, there are a lot more ingredients to meth than iodine.

Well don't know nothing about that lol but seems uk is similar to Canada with some stuff you can get in United States we can't get in uk or Canada for whatever reason pfffft
Guess the few spoil it for the many hey

i would follow instructions. anything to lessen the progression of infection
Ok will pull torch out shortly and dip it again in this nt labs coral dip.

I know I can buy dettol at supermarket which is an antiseptic and seen few videos on this with dipping corals .

And will ask at chemist later to see if any of this witch hazel stuff you mention.

So think as shape of the coral it rubbed on bag during transport and now going into decline as ripped/ tore sone it's flesh as didnt notice it in lfs and inspected as good as can be but then 45 minutes later Its in my tank and notice flesh ripped/ tore etc

Do you have chemi clean for red slime? It's an antibiotic which has worked for some to dip corals in that have an infection.
Unfortunately not got none.
Only just really started adding corals so not prepared at all tbh.
Which I need be as better having stuff in for when needed rather than waiting few days for Internet delivery etc
Only got coral dip I mentioned above

A substitute for peroxide
Will go chemist in hour or so when finished kids swimming lesson and ask about this witch hazel stuff.did quick search earlier and says a tree extract or something but if it's useful for a reef tank I will try my best to get some and have it on hand.

Thanks everyone for all the replys and suggestions.
All images/ videos I seen of bjd it doesn't look like mine does but does look like a small really dark brown patch on back one the polyps but looks like polyp ripped open and half missing and it's the insides of polyp ( possibly zooantheli algae that's inside corals but just a uneducated guess as I really do not know much) .
Anyway will go chemist shortly and ask about witch hazel and iodine .
