I’m going to use these powder packets. Hopefully they work.

just to summarize:

  • Soaked probe in Hanna Cleaning Solution for 1 hour
  • At the same I prepped the pH calibration fluid by mixing 250ml of RODI and each packet in separate containers
  • Calibrated the replacement probe as well as my secondary pH probe that’s already in the sump using APEX calibration process on the digital screen

A few issues I’m seeing now:

  1. The probes don’t match reading
  2. My system pH is way lower than expected

I calibrated a Hanna handheld I had laying around that registered perfectly in the calibration fluid.

Somehow, I must have damaged my pH2 probe. Ugh.

The readings an hour after calibration apex shows a big disparity:

Worse, at midnight my pH readings even on the new pH1 probe were below 8. Which is odd since I’m on a CO2 scrubber…

Current readings with lights ramping up:

Always something to figure out. I’ll replace CO2 media even though it’s fairly new. But darn that pH2 probe.

Beginning of year T5 replacement. I just realized I didn’t get 2x Blue Plus and 2x Coral Plus this time. I got all four Blue Plus. I really liked the color of the Coral Plus. Darn.

Still love the swing out apparatus…

Time to clean out the reflectors too…

And done…literally 10 minutes.

I think I may have found my pH drop issue .. at least partly. There was a blockage of buildup in the FishOfHex CO2 moisture trap junction…

Tightened the nut and reassembled. I’ll see if this helps…

Because this media is definitely not used up yet…

Did an amino and fatty acid high nutrition bath on the AmazeBalls Goni.

IMG_0275.jpeg

I used

  • 1 capful Brightwell Restor
  • 10 drops PolypLab Polyp Booster
  • A pinch of Reef Enhance powder food
  • 25 minute soak
I’ll do this again in a couple days if the Goni likes ok tomorrow.

I havent heard of doing this before - is there a reason for this, or just to try an improve overall coral health?

The Goni has been closed up for a month or more with no extension. When I get this on a Goni I’m the past I usually lose them over time.

Devon, from his Reef Dudes channel just published a video a few days ago about this very issue —- he shared his experience doing this tie of bath and is seeing some positive response from the bath.

Strangest thing happened a couple days ago with my RedSea ATO. I got this error:

IMG_0317.png

After clicking RESUME a form loaded up asking for the serial and mdc(?) number for the probe.

Today, I received a replacement probe via fedex!

IMG_0316.jpeg

Anyone else experience this recently?

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate RedSea providing a new probe for free. But was just surprised.

I did too, but instead of going through with the order from Red Sea, I power cycled, reset the probe and reconnected everything and it worked again. I too was surprised that order popped up as soon as there was a problem. Wish more companies did something like this.

I tried that first but the error reoccurred in a few hours. Second time the temperature probe was fully disabled by the system automatically. I power cycled again but the temp probe was still error’ing out and that’s when the replacement option popped up for me.
