So I'm starting my jarring journey. I purchased a 2.5 gallon on Amazon. My plan is to use either a clear glass plate as the lid. It'll be lighted by a Kessil A80. I figured this way I can rest the light directly on the glass plate lid with no worries of burning. I considered options for creating a real. Silicone seems difficult to get a uniform layer. So I was thinking of getting rubber sheets to cut and make a rubber gasket. Are there any concerns for any leeching of chemicals from the rubber. I wouldn't think so but Just getting opinions. The link below is the product I'm thinking of.

Seems unlikely it would be an issue, but could look for food safe rubber if you wanted.

I would also just try seeing what evap is like without a seal too. Depending on the gap it might not be needed at all if doing big weekly w/c.

Silicone is kinda tricky. I let it skin up pretty well then put making tape on lid and placed the lid on the lined base to shape it but not break the skin using the weight of the lid. This way gets it even but takes some testing and alot for looks depends on how steady you can make the beed.

Apparently to see how much I can spend for a pico, I have $530 worth of rock nems coming this week. Haha 10 from KP aquatics and 3 from coral savers here on reef2reef.

Oh yea, I forgot that I was saving those little bags of chemipure elite nano. After being exhausted I cut them open and fill with GFO and have been sealing them with a styrofoam cutter, but it's tricky. I got a cheap impulse sealer from amazon and it works great! Keep them under the tunze wavemaker and it's nice to have a little bag of GFO in there.

Nice RFA. I just splurged on a bunch for my pico too. :D I like your idea of the Chemi Pure, I forgot about those little baggies. Total boo on the MEN.

Have any pics since you’re my rock flower rival?!?

Yea the nudis suck, but that video is pretty clear so hopefully someone might find it interesting. I was surprised the phone did such a good job.

I am picking them up tomorrow. I'll post pics in my thread. Maybe instead of rivals we could be cohorts?? :D

Wow. Just wow. Did KP aquatics ever deliver and coral savers too. But the KP sight unseen pack is amazing.

Under full whites, the whitest kessils get around 10k which is far whiter than I run.

And now under my normal lights... made my jaw drop.

I am really happy with the variety, the two orange ones are really pretty, I can see why people have these guys!

Now just let them get settled on the rock, although I can see why people keep on sand to have them spread out. I think the sand gets moved around too much with this pico to keep them happy on the sand tho.

Love them. I have 5 or so in my 6g and they are gorgeous. I feed them twice a week and they are getting nice and big. I hope mine decide to spawn and I have a male and female.

Good luck with yours. Those are very nice nems. Wow!!! Just wow!!!

So I know you've moved out of the jar. I'm ok week 2 or so of my jar. Everything going good. Question..how did you clean algae off the glass? I was going to use my Flipper nano. Doesn't do a good job due to the curvature of the jar. Any suggestions appreciated.

Any updates with the RFA installed?

Try an Innovative Marine NanoMag. That's what I use for my Bubble-shaped pico.

I used magic erasers when I had it drained. Worked like a charm.
