Sounds like you are as picky as me, I’m glad to hear you had the same experience as me with Joe. I did warn Joe going into it though and said to charge me for a show tank knowing my expectations.

Interesting on the euro brace, I obviously don’t have that issue being it’s not a peninsula. I will have to keep that in mind for my next tank, I really want to do a 10x3x2 peninsula for my next build

Go 4 foot wide. You'll be glad you did.

Got my Reef Chasers fish order and Reef Cleaners CUC order today.

The fish came in looking great! The Golden Lined Rabbitfish is being quite a jerk to the Foxface Lo and follows the Two Spot Bristletooth Tang all over the tank. It's like some kind of passive aggressiveness. No fin nipping or anything but always up in their face and flaring his/her dorsal fin at them. I'd much rather have the Lo over the Golden Lined. The Golden Lined was just bought to help keep algae in check, not for looks.

Snails all came in great from Reef Cleaners. Got a couple knobbly cerith snails. Never seen them before. Supposed to be a "better conch" at keep the sand turned over and clean...

Tank is still a mess. Likely a bacteria bloom plus sand dust that got kicked up.

Been trying to upload update pics but kept getting errors. Looks to be resolved.

Tank is humming along. The 120 should be retired this week...thankfully

Before the pics just a couple updates

- Got ozone installed and running. Started at 223mv on my ORP reading. Would like to see 350-400

- I finished scaping the second island and moving over all the big LPS colonies from my 120. Will have to get pics later.

- my Hydros XP8 has had 2 outlets fail and then fix themselves randomly. CoralVue sent me a new to install so we'll see how that goes

- Switching over to all halides being the ReefBrite 20k bulb. Corals seem to love this 20k and XHO combo. Seeing growth all over my SPS.

Thanks for following!

Got some great (for me) fish shots!

And ozone for the win! Can't believe how much it cleared the tank up overnight. Now it's skimmer bubbles and food that I see floating around. Not sure why the skimmer keeps pumping out microbubbles. It never did in my 120.

For those following along...I need to figure out why this tank stinks to high hell. I can not figure it out. Skimmer, ozone, and carbon are not getting rid of the stench. I don't know if it is the Real Reef rock, dinos, diatoms, or a combo of everything. Smells like rotten algae/corals and my entire basement wreaks of it. It isn't my skimmer cup since that goes to a skimmate locker and has a bag of carbon on it. Just like my 120 did and I got the stench totally under control.

I had a tank suddenly start to stink in the past. For me the water smelled bad, it did not really stink up the whole room. I never did figure out why. The smell just went away after a week or so. I just wrote it off as some kind of bacterial imbalance that was beyond my understanding.

Well, only thing that ever worked for me was a good old fashion water change, especially if the stench is from Dino’s

At best, I can do a 10% water change with my water station and I plan to shortly anyway. Then I can get everything reset for another ICP and start full blown Reef Moonshiners

I have been running RMS the whole time but haven’t moved to 0 water changes. I’m currently in Maui for a couple weeks and am curious what my nutrient levels will be when I get home with the AWC off, maybe I’ll move to 0 or a small once a month change. If I stop the AWC completely I’ll have to re baseline RMS again.

Jealous of Hawaii! My son is 5 and keeps saying he wants to go. No clue where he got the idea but I am not complaining. I have never been so it would be a lot of fun taking him and my wife.

My 120 had 3 water changes in 16 months. The only water change that had any reason was when I totally cleaned out the sump. It was going great!

The transfer hasn't had any deaths. A little browning is all so far.

My guess would be the Dino's. I remember a stench that my whole family smelled when I had Dino's in the past. My wife reminded me about it daily. It did go away very quick though.

Well, it is time to say goodbye to the 120. All fish moved to the 250 on Friday, all leftover rock is in a bin with heat and flow, and the 120 equipment has been removed and cleaned.

Now to get the tank outside to clean it up some. It's the worst part IMO. Getting all the junk and coralline out.

The last full tank pic I took (January 1 I believe)

Just a quick update...

Waiting on the 3 new halide bulbs from Tullio but should be here any day.

Another Hydros device has failed me and I am done fighting with it. It is NOT better hardware in my experience. It is far worse to be honest. So I am ordering an EB4 for my Apex and will just run Apex and some Amazon smart plugs. They are $5 and have proven far more reliable than Hydros to this point.

Any hope I had for Hydros being a "better" system is out the window. 2 failed Wifi bars and a failed XP8 in less than a year. Not to mention the constant wifi issues and disconnects with Hydros. Only things in my house that constatly have wifi issues.

Yet, all my 7 year old Apex gear is still working great.

MicroBacter7 is amazing! 3 days of dosing 15ml and my sand is pure white already. I had dinos creeping up but not now.

I really want to figure out my DSLR and get some pictures taken. I suck with cameras though

A second defective XP8 now...within 1 day an outlet failed to turn off a halide. So it is clear to me the XP8 or the Hydros software can't handle halides which makes no sense. In talking with CoralVue, it sounds like they never once tested any of their stuff with halides because they are getting my original XP8 back to see if they can replicate the issue. My heaters run at a higher wattage and more amperage and not a problem so far. My halides use 2.2A and run at 250-255w each. A Radion XR30 is around 215 watts and 2.2A at 100%. This sounds more like faulty equipment that wasn't properly tested to me OR I just have terrible luck?

I can't get this Hydros sold off soon enough. Plenty of people have good luck with the Hydros but I am not one of them.

But the good news is the growth tips on a few SPS are ridiculous! My Miyagi Tort is going absolutely crazy right now and I am up to .5dkh per day on this tank. It was .3dkh less than a week ago.

Wow! Did the chalk clear it up even more. Ozone always keeps it clear but after the bacteria bloom and the ORP skyrocketing to 480+, I shut ozone off for a little bit. ORP dropped back down to 360 so I fired the ozone back up.

I am sitting at my desk over 20 feet away, turned on 10x super telescope on my Samsung S22 Ultra (just so we know which camera is used), and snapped this picture.
