I said goodbye to my old 75 gallon system and now I’m running a brand new 90 gallon system!
I transferred all old inhabitants last Friday night.
I started at 6 and it ended at 3:30 for day one... man tank moves really are stressful.... no losses on coral or fish! I’m so excited to start with a new tank with no scratches!!! I transferred all the water and live rock, I decided to leave the old sand out. If you guys have any questions about the moving process feel free to ask me! There was so much that happened that I cannot cover it all here in this text! But welcome to my latest build!!!

Looking good...congrats on a successful transfer. Would you like me to move this over to the members tank section and this can be your build thread? Great way to share your progress and look back on it from the beginning.

Do you think the new tank will go through a cycle?
It shouldn’t, I used all my old rock and water, used a total of 35 gallons of new water so basically a normal water change for my system. I do suspect a mini cycle, but I have purchased seeded BIO media
balls that came out of my LFS. They are equivalent to 1300 bio balls a piece, I have 3 to control the mini cycle! And if any possible ammonia spikes.
I’m getting absolutely crazy PE right now! The corals are very happy!

My fish will not be eating for the first week like they normally do, I’m being very restrictive to keep a spike from happening until the bacteria catches back up.

Well the unthinkable happened... in all my preventative efforts... I’ve lost half to almost all my acros... they didn’t make the move.
I’m not sure how it happened. I have had no spikes in anything and all peramiters are spot on.

The other half are doing great... millipora montipora and digi seem to be doing fine as well as chalice and LPS. In a last ditch effort to save the rest of my coral I ran to get fritz A.C.C.R, prime, quick start and stability.
Time is going to tell with this build. At least I’ve got the majority of my critters still with me.

Moving SUCKS!

Sorry for your lost corals

..... but more importantly, you are a man after my own heart taking the risks of standing on the rim of a tool bucket instead of getting a stool or ladder reaching over the tank! AWESOME!! My wife always tells me to take the extra time to do it right so nothing else gets broke, but I hardly ever listen! HAHA
