Do you run C02 injection in your freshwater planted tank? The reason that I ask is that I have a high tech planted tank in my living room running C02. I have added a saltwater tank and have had it cycling for a month and have noticed that the PH seems to be very low in the saltwater tank (around 7.6-7.7). My theory is that the C02 emitted to the room from the planted tank is causing the low PH of the saltwater tank. If I open windows the PH rises. I added a C02 scrubber to the skimmer and that helped raise the PH and equalize it a bit.

I built a reef tank in my loft at home. The preparations started in the summer of 2019 and the seawater was added on January 18, 2020. I'm going to show you the record to date. There is already an aquatic plant tank on the right side.I decided to make a tank full of coral on the left side of this one.

And it was recently filled with coral.

I have added CO2 to my two water plant tanks. I've certainly heard that the CO2 concentration in the air in the room can cause the pH of the seawater to drop. But I don't know if the water grass tanks are the cause of that.I've heard that the use of combustion heating has a noticeable effect.Could the water grass tank be responsible for the increase in CO2 levels? As long as I've been monitoring the pH changes in the tank, it seems like the water plants are absorbing most of the CO2 dissolved in the water. If the CO2 concentration in the room is significantly high, you might want to suspect that your system is losing a lot of CO2 due to bubbles, or that it's leaking from a cylinder or other connection. I haven't felt the effect, at least not in my house. However, we have a 24 hour heat exchange forced ventilation system in our house, so that may be the reason. I don't know if this is the answer, but I hope it helps.

It was very difficult to come up with the plumbing and actually build it.It was my first overflow tank, so it took a long time.It was like I didn't even want to look at the pipes for a while. I had to tentatively assemble it many times and check the dimensions as I went along.

I was so happy when I installed the pipe in the tank that I looked at it for a while.

A sump was installed.

Takaki-San,

Please tell me how you got your overflow pipe so quiet! I have a similar setup in my tank (Japanese tank) that I am working on and it's so loud. I didn't use the elbow included with the tank at the bottom of my overflow because I am not using the pipe in the middle of it for a return line from my pump. My tank didn't come with all three pipes, just two and a non-water tight divider that goes around the area the drain pipe is.

Maybe the return pipe in the middle and the "pistol" are sold separately in that tank. The pistol is a part to take out the return pipe from the drainage pipe outside the tank.In Japan, you can easily get a pistol if you look for it.

First of all, I don't use the return pipe in the middle of the tank because I want to increase the rotation speed in a large tank. However, if you don't use it, it tends to get a little noisy because it increases the space in the drainage pipe. But don't worry, there are ways to make it quieter.

Here are four typical ways to quieten it down.Again, I'll borrow someone else's picture from the web to explain.

First.
This is the method of hanging a string down the drain pipe. When you dangle the string, the water will fall through it and it will be quiet as it falls through it.This is the most common method and it works.

Second.
The method of attaching a ring. Attach a ring to the top of the drain pipe. This will quiet the water as it runs down the edge of the drain pipe and makes it quieter.
FD8ADF95-C951-45A1-860D-7C13CDCE349C.jpeg

Third.
How to put a lid on it.Probably a Pringles lid is the perfect size. Some people buy a special one at the store.
20403634-3065-4F39-9944-20A913C031B3.jpeg

Fourth.
How to attach a valve to the drain pipe. It's the same method as the reefer, which is a way to regulate the amount of water in the drain pipe by squeezing the drainage volume.Be careful if you don't have an escape drain pipe, as the adjustment can be disrupted for some reason.

The four methods are not independent and many people use a combination of them.I use methods 2 and 3. If you're worried about the sound of the drainage pipes, then if you do well with these methods, the sound will go away.

Note that there are two types of Japanese overflow systems, the filter sock type and the wool box type.If your sump is using the wool box type, you will also need to quiet the falling water.

FAUNA MARIN ICP TEST
4AC3EFD9-01A4-47AD-92BA-DFA7CA2FC1CF.jpeg

I tested the water quality of seawater for 37 elements.
The main elements and nutrients of Mg, Ca, Sr were all right, but the trace elements were generally deficient.
320 liters of Redsea's trace colors were dosed at 0.9 ml each, but the coral seemed to be deficient when it came to grow.I decided to increase the amount of B, C and D to 1.2ml per day.

Thanks Takaki-San! I have a couple options I am starting to work through on this based on a stockman pipe and some of your recommendations. I'm going to try them all to get it just right :)

I'll be honest though, I think Japanese tanks are a bit behind the technology for overflows. They are clever due to space considerations, but I find them to be super restrictive builds so far. For example, in my tank the stand pipe doesn't have the clear pipe that surrounds it creating a proper overflow box sealed off from the rest of the tank. It has a corner divider that isn't water tight so there is a bit of risk here and makes tuning the overflow more difficult.

Yeah, I think so too.Unfortunately, marine aquariums themselves are on the decline in Japan and the technology and new products are not as good as they are in the US.So this forum is very exciting to me!

Japanese high end users basically order a custom tank or build their own.Or the redsea reefer series is also very popular.I'll be importing an overflow box next time I get a chance to make one myself lol.

We have a special evolution that emphasizes spectrum when it comes to lighting, and I'd like to introduce it again when I get a chance. There's a lot of stuff going on, including lots of auxiliary lights, and developing their own high-end LEDs that replicate the solar spectrum.(I prefer the American style of keeping them with just the main lights, though.)

I don’t know those corals name.

If anyone knows the names of these corals, please tell me the names or ID.
The blue one is Indonesian cultured coral.I don't know the origin of the cream-colored one, but I think it's probably from Indonesia too.

Very interesting that marine aquariums are declining in japan. Is it being offset by a rise in freshwater, or is the hobby overall decreasing in popularity?
