I have a DCP-4000 return pump that has a 25mm outlet that I want to hook up to a 1/2" silicone hose. It came with 3/4" and 1" barbs. It's going in a Fiji Cube 48G Ext with a 20G sump. The pump is a bit oversized, but my plan was to run it at lower power. What's the easiest way to go from the 25mm outlet to a 1/2" hose barb? Am I ok reducing the outlet size this much as long as I'm not running it anywhere near full power?

So roughly you are going from 1" down to 1/2". It is fine to reduce the output side of a pump but never the input side. I think you will be fine.

Thanks! I found out a 1/2" sch 80 union will screw directly onto the pump so I believe I found an easy solution to get the 1/2" barb attached.
