I just notice the sdw (fake vortech) and slw (fake nero) are both available on aliexpress. Has anyone ordered from aliexpress before? How did it turn out? Also my tank is only 6 gallons and I'm worried either of these pumps will be to strong at the lowest settings and I cant seem to find minimum specs. Does anyone have any experience with the slw10 or sdw5 or seen minimum flow specs?

I have a slw20 but I can’t compare it to anything as I’m a newbie.

Works well for my needs, I would say it pushes water well in a 18” cube. I have it in a tank that’s 30x18x21 and it’s giving broad flow for half the tank. It’s opposing a 400gph return. When I feed, nothing settles on that side. I’ve been amused at how well things are staying in the water column.

No frills, silent, had it running for a couple weeks. You can’t see the blue blades when it’s running.

Paid $70 on eBay.

SDW is not fake vortech-- it does NOT have the motor outside the tank. The photo is just confusing.

Just search for slw-20 on eBay. Can’t miss it. I picked a shipper out of Los Angeles.

There are some vids on YouTube as well.

It’s a Jebao, so keep your expectations in line with that.

I did realize that after. Its just a low profile jebao sow that you cant point. That's why I chose slw

Just got an SDW-16. Moves a ton of water. Rated similar in gallons and watts as a mp40. However, the Mp40 cage structure in the tank is wider, and therefore wider flow. Obviously not the same but for $80 it’s keeping the back of my tank clear of detritus.
FYI. Day 1 the pump was SUPER noisy, ceramic rubbing on ceramic. I’m now on day 3-4 and it is now more silent then my pp-8. There is a slight hum being right in the glass. I imagine the sow series is inaudible given it’s floating on more rubber than the SDW. So far very happy now that the screeching has subsided.
Now my battle is so I replace my worn Jebao gyre with a maxspect equivalent or get an mp40? Seems I can’t go wrong.

I don't like the slw-20. The magnet that holds onto the pump inside the tank is weak and i am constantly having to fix it. And i only have it mounted on a very thin walled PVC tank i keep my DI water in.

That's odd, I have 2 mounted on 5/16" glass an they hold well.

So here’s my update. The pump is very powerful. Even the smallest one makes huge waves. It’s easy to clean, and seems way more reliable than their older models. If you don’t mind wires in the tank and like a minimal look it’s perfect. 9/10
