Not sure if the rossmont m1200’s And the aqua clear 110 will be enough. Also worried the rock is too densely packed. Any thoughts would be great.

Excited to see this come together over time.

Looks great! I think that the rock could be a little less packed together. But if you are not housing any larger fish you probably will be fine
These are the fish I’m considering:
2 Ocellaris clown fish (1 regular &
1 black and white)
Carpenter’s wrasse
Agile chromis
Limbaughi chromis
Exquisite firefish
Bristletooth tang (not sure which kind)
Fire shrimp
Couple hermits
Troca snails
At suggestions for additional fish would be great.

I think that for your fish choices the rock work is fine.

What do you plan in stocking? That would help determine if the filter is big enough, and if the other equipment is suitable. Other then that, I think it looks great.
So for the equipment.

Maybe a few corals at some point need to do some reading about husbandry first.

So I started my cycle 7 days ago and my ammonia reading never changes. I used dr. Tim’s one and only and the ammonia drops. Every time I check my ammonia readings the ammonia is always at 1.5. Even after adding the 2ppm of ammonia. The nitrites were at 2 now they are at 1.5. I just added another dose of 1ppm ammonia. To see if the ammonia reading changed but it did not. I’m thinking that once the nitrites hit zero I will add a full dose of 2ppm ammonia and see what happens over night. Any thoughts?

So I went and bought an API ammonia kit. When I tested it read 8ppm ammonia. So I did a 20 gallon water change. I tested again after the water change and it still says 8ppm ammonia. I’m thinking that I may have to do another water change to bring this back down tomorrow.

False Reading. In a tank that has been running for more than 2 weeks even should never have 8 ppm ammonia. Have you by any chance used prime? that can throw it off.

Aquaclear is the best HOB filter out there IMO.

Your tank hasn't cycled yet. Just leave it alone. Don't water change it yet
Do you mind if i ask why, like what is your opinion on it being better. itll help me with my choice :)

Because aquaclears are cheap, big chambers for running what ever media you want, some people turn them into mini refugiums as well!
Aquaclear has been the goto HOB for nano/ mini reefs for nearly 20 years now.

So I tested after the 20 gallon water change last night and it was still 8ppm ammonia. I woke up this morning and tested again and it was at 3 ppm ammonia. I’m leaving it be until it drops to zero now.

I like the filter with the exception of having to keep my water really high. If I let my water come down too far I get lots of micro bubbles in the tank. Even with the water level almost even with the lip on the filter I still get a tiny bit of bubbles. The bubbles come from the water splashing back into the tank.

It cleared the cloudiness in my newly setup tank overnight. I may also buy an additional one to setup as a fuge but not sure yet.
