Hello all,

About 1.5 months ago I moved my ~3 month old 20g to its final form, the 40B! I've ran into several issues thus far and am working through each of them. Thank you for all comments (good and bad) and suggestions!

Current stock:
Fish -
2 ocellaris clowns
1 lawnmower blenny
1 scooter blenny
1 sixline wrasse
1 Springer's demoiselle

Other -
1 cucumber
1 tiger conch
1 longspine urchin
?? Assorted hermits and snails

Coral -
Red cap monti
Jedi mind trick monti
3 zoas, not sure what kind
Purple mushroom
Green rhodactus Mushroom
GSP
Green favia
Platygyra
Lepto?
2 acropora, unsure of kind
Candy cane

Current issues:

1) brown algae. Maybe diatom? I was told it was a type of cyano but chemiclean had zero effect.

2) skimmer too big, bought a smaller one

3) flow inadequate/dead spots? Bought a 1k gyre, unsure of placement

4) no dosing yet, need to get a hold on this asap

5) Triton style sump, filter sock or no?

6) chaeto not really growing, but hair algae is. Not the end of the world but something off here.

7) better test kit, only using api

Nice tank.

A little more rock would be nice I think.

You may need a sock at some point.

Gyre at one end facing towards the other end.

Look for salifert and red Sea kits. Better than API.

Thank you! I've planned on getting a few more pieces to build up the left side more, just haven't found any I like. My lfs was out of dry rock and had only huge pieces of live last time I was there! I was thinking of Hanna checkers for phos, alk and Calc. So far I've been using a sock when stirring stuff up, but lots of stuff has gathered in my refugium chamber

Got my water change done, but realized I had used the chemiclean with a bag of carbon in the sump. Probably effected the outcome. The layer of brownish/redish was back today pretty bad. I siphoned a bunch and am debating on another round of chemiclean.

Also, think I need to look into a gfo reactor.
