Nice tank!

Just caught up on the thread.

Where did you get the tangaroa goby?

Thanks! I got it at my LFS, Golden State Corals. The shrimp has moved again and now he's under my monti cap that I have on an isolated rock. Now that they're paired, we'll see how much they move until the shrimp is satisfied?

Picked up some really nice frags yesterday from Steve Garrett.

Not too bad, but the continued low iodine tells me that I have to scale down the refugium a little. The chaeto is growing too fast, so I need to trim more often. I probably pick up some molybdenum and potassium to do a few doses in order to get them close to the preferred levels. I'll do a few larger water changes in order to bring up the other elements that are a little low, but nothing crazy.
I have two more Orphek OR2 60 blue plus bars coming soon, which will give me three total. I ordered some diffuser material to make diy diffusers since the bars are mounted closer than they recommend, plus one of my torts is showing signs of too much light from the Orphek I mounted in the front of the tank. I might have to move it to another part in lower par?
Long term plans include replacing the ap700's with the new a360x's (probably 5 total) and remove the T5's and use the Orphek's on the sides and front. I'm also considering replacing the side mp40's with the new gyres to spread out the flow more. Okay, time to dose some iodine and buy some trace elements.

Is there any specific reason you want to change the AP700's?
I guess the A360X would give you more freedom in light placement.

Just thinking out loud about the future and being able to angle the individual lights, which I can't do with the 700's. But for now, I'm really happy with the coverage with the 700's and the Orphek's. My sps are growing and slowly coloring up, except a few which are recovering from low nitrates.

Orphek's mounted. I added white vinyl to the inside canopy top and black to the outside to match better. Also cut some holes to vent the fans of the 700's better. Added vent covers to prevent anything from falling in from the top.

I swapped out the MP40's on the side with a pair of gyres. I really like the laminar flow on these much better than the MP40's. If my tank was 4' long, then the MP40's would be fine.

You have a beautiful tank, great corals.

Shallow tanks are the best, easy to work in.
