Well, I made it into the office for a brief visit today. And happy to report that not everything is dead. In fact, things look pretty good!

The first thing I noted upon entering was that all 6 wrasses were out and about exploring the extra space and apparently enjoying it. That makes me very happy.

Next thing I noticed was how open and full the elegance was!
1739153883684.png

Third thing I noted was that the Orphek lights really highlight the fish colors much better than the Noops did. Now, the noops were heavy on the blue/purple spectrum and did a great job with the corals, but I always found the pencil and exquisite wrasse colors a bit muted.
1739153914877.png

Was also nice to see that some of the brown gunk on the flat tops of the SPS island are dissipating.

I was unhappy to see that the Caulerpa peltata melted and/or went sexual. There's more where that came from, though.

The 40 looks pretty bad, but seems like the CUC is hanging in there. I will start transferring them tomorrow.

Yellow came out for a bit:

Goals for the week:
1. Clean up the mess I made during the transfer... it's really bad
2. Transfer the rest of the 40 over
3. Mount new frags of the zoas for making a properly maintained garden
4. Kill Aiptasia
5. Fix the Hydros sensors that don't seem to be responding to anything at all (except the temp sensor which seems to be working)
6. Transfer the Helio heater and set up the Inkbird on the Finnex--remove the Inkpet
7. Set up the refugium light

That's it for this week!

That elegance is fire!!!

One of my favorite corals...but I have never actually attempted keeping one!

I'm sorry! I got in early and cleaned up the mess. Took me the whole morning, but can't be setting THAT bad an example to all the coworkers! We'll have to let AI paint a picture for you.

The office, once an austere bastion of order, now lay in a state of sublime chaos, as though some wild tempest had swept through it, leaving behind nothing but the wreckage of good intentions. A wild sprawl of scattered paperwork, haphazardly displaced files, and overturned coffee cups lay mingling with the aquatic detritus that now clung to the carpet like an unspeakable secret. The once-pristine desk, now a battlefield of wadded paper towels, hastily discarded fragging tools, and tangled cords, looked as if it had borne witness to some tragicomic struggle—one fought between the soul of clarity and the inevitable chaos of life. The aquarium, its glass panels smudged and streaked with fingerprints, stood as a stubborn monument to its own calamity. Water spilled in erratic arcs, running in slow rivers across the floor, pooling in dark corners where it would silently mock the very concept of control. The air, thick with the scent of fish food and drying algae, seemed to hum a discordant note in the otherwise sterile room. The whole scene was an extravagant symphony of failure, and all that could be heard in its aftermath was the quiet sigh of resignation from the once-proud office, now overtaken by the creeping, merciless disorder of the aquarium’s ill-fated introduction.

Forgot your quotes:
The tank is beautiful, but I wanted to see the mess.

I also would like to see the mess

I'm sorry, @JoJosReef . While that does paint a vivid mental image, the description is considerably less than the requisite "1000 words" needed to match or exceed the value of a photograph.

Be better.

Hmm, perhap instead of prompting "write in the style of F. Scott Fitzgerald", should have gone with Victor Hugo.

That and questioning whether I've spent too much time on those TWS/HS threads... ;)

Weekend Update

TL;DR: things worked, things didn't, we're getting better. Here's the video:

This last week was a doozy. Here's what I managed:

1. Transferred remaining RFAs and Zoas from the 40 to the 83--none of the left behind SPS made it. Lost the button scoly too.

2. Rearranged the corals according to the ineffable plan!!
PXL_20250210_200014986~2.jpg

I likely have to find a new place for the elegance. Looks like it is getting too much flow.

3. Installed two new T slot arms and hung up the Noops to add coverage on the sides of the tank:
PXL_20250214_011156521~3.jpg

Hanging them was pretty easy. At first I was going to use two 3030 L brackets back to back to make a horizontal point to screw in the Noopsyche bolt, but I found that attaching a 2020 L bracket to the 3030 L bracket on the T slot gave it room to angle the bracket. Thus, I was able to move the Noops further forward and angle them inward to reduce bleed outside the tank and provide some side lighting further into the tank. Then set the schedule and a whiter spectrum to match the Orphek as much as possible, and I'm really happy with the result. Beats buying two $25 pivot joints!

4. I tried both of my float sensors on the Minnow: one is a Hydros float, and the other is a float from @Reef Outfit (Thanks!!). The hydros one does not register at all on the minnow regardless of whether the float is up or down (@Connor At CoralVue ??), but it registers as WET when you unplug it (causing my return pump to shut off). Recall: I have the float switch high in the sump to detect a sump overflow and turn off the return pump. The Reef Outfit switch works well and is nice and sensitive, but the Minnow for some reason thinks that down is wet and up is dry. It is usable, just have to program the Minnow to turn pumps off when it thinks it is dry. NOTE: my Reef Outfit smart dosing container float switch works perfectly. Love it.

5. I got the rope leak sensor working at the highest sensitivity (lowest voltage).

6. Got the Minnow doser #1 calibrated and programmed to use the @Reef Outfit Smart Dosing container with AFR (Thanks Reef Outfit! And your barb adapters for the tubing work perfectly!). I wish Hydros could just show a schedule with times and mL values instead of N doses of X between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 (assuming I programmed it right).

7. I got an Avast magnetic multipurpose mount to put the float valve in the return chamber instead of using the included plastic hang on glass mount. It did not work well (Farewell $40!), because the magnet doesn't hold the mount level when the water rises (e.g., when I turn the return off for maintenance or when it randomly turns off when the wifi strip loses signal...). The float pushes one end up, then making the ATO target water level way too high. So back to the plastic one, and that seems to work. I also added a quick connect shutoff ball valve to the ATO line (thanks @VintageReefer !!) so that I can disconnect the ATO container and remove it without screwing up the position of the float valve. Awesome QOL improvement.

Video of the below decks:

8. Put in the @ReefChasers Frag Rack (Thanks! I finally got the tank set up so I can use it!). Works fantastic, perfect size, and is helping get the acan, zoa, goni and platy frags off the sand (where they kept getting buried or turned over) until I can find their permanent homes.

9. Bought some freeze dried blackworm cubes. Amazing how difficult it is to find blackworms. Loads of bloodworm products out there but very few blackworms. Idea is to break them apart and see if they work in the Plank. Think the wrasses will like them, and I eventually want the CBB learning to eat them.

10. I did a thing... Oops
Screenshot_20250214-214408~3.png

Splitting order with another local.

12. I did another thing... Oopsy!
Screenshot_20250214-214710.png

13. And another thing... I need help
Screenshot_20250214-214852.png

14. Set up the third Noop over the sump:
PXL_20250214_011505075.MP.jpg

15. Observed one of the recently transferred RFAs spawning!! And took illicit video footage!

And a bit of Splam!

This goni has perked up:

Neptune looking happy. Keep going buddy, you're my ticket to getting out of this budgetary black hole!
PXL_20250212_224043447.jpg

I LOVE these Miami Vice zoas under the whiter spectrum.
PXL_20250214_011548295.MP.jpg

Unfortunately, this is all that I could salvage from the pink branching cyphastrea from @TangerineSpeedo
PXL_20250214_011553578.MP.jpg

It is still colored up, though, so Maybe it will grow!!

And that's all I have to say about that.

Wow you need a vacation after all that hard work.
4 days in Death Valley and stressing about how the tank is doing!!

Especially the Elegance, which wasn't looking all that hapyoy when I left...

Speaking of vacation reefing, I can reprogram the Hydros wifi strips to add a few feedings over the long weekend.

@tbrown @Stang67 do you know if running a schedule like this:
Screenshot_20250215-065942.png

Should mean it does 7am, 10am, 1pm and 4pm for 1 min, right?

Then there's the pump:
Screenshot_20250215-070122.png

I want the pump kicking on 5 min after the food drop and running for 30 min. So bere it would run from 7:05-7:35, 10:05-10:35, 1:05-1:35, and 4:05-4:35...

BUT, I have a doubt. Does the run interval of 3 hr begin counting from the start of each run or the end of each run? E.g., 7:05-:7:35, 10:35-11:05, 2:05-2:35 and 5:35-6:05??? That would misalign the pump with the Plank by a large margin.

Thanks!
