looking forward to seeing this bad boy come to life :D

Thank you! I wasn’t aware that these tanks are hard to get out west. Always seemed to me out west and Florida gets everything before the Northeast does, it be slim pickings up here for everything but heaters [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji3]

I’m new to the hobby, however, I was told you don’t have to QT snails, shrimp, or any other CUC member.

First off welcome to the hobby!!!!

My rule is that anything wet will go through QT. While yes some will say it’s highly unlikely that something will come in on inverts, I do agree to a point. But you just don’t know what you don’t know. At a minimum I would recommend QT fish as a must. It really just comes down to how much of a hobby Vs obsession to have that show stopper tank. By know means am I saying QT’ing everything will give that either, but it certainly helps when you don’t have deal with the stress and headaches of parasites and hitchhikers.

To me and I’m sure others, it’s just another form of Russian roulette. I’ve been in the hobby 3 years now, so with this approach I feel like this gives me the extra sense of security that I will have not to fall victim to Ick, Brook, Velvet, Flatworms, Aiptasia and etc,.

I heard my name, Lol. How is everyone? Great looking set up John. Love the DB 80's. Had one a few years back. Might be in the market for some pods and phyto? We at Aquarium Cuisine can definitely hook you up. We are currently changing our pod tanks to something a lil bigger and easier to harvest from. Phyto is going strong. Iso is touch and go. We struggle with it even to this day, but haven't thrown in the towel just yet. We are on a lil break currently. RAP in next weekend and with the few upgrades we are doing, we do not have much to offer at this time. We will be back in full production when we return from RAP and set up the new system. Give us 2-3 weeks and we can definitely get you some pods and phyto shipped out to you.

Paul C.

Thanks Paul for stopping in! I’m still on the fence about RAP, if I do go I will seek you guys out.

If we don’t cross paths at RAP:
Please keep me updated when your ready to take some orders. I’ve got large amount of corals waiting for some microfauna snacks!!!!

Well yesterday did not go as I planned. Durning the mid afternoon doing my usual system status checks, I found what was the start if a big issue. My DIY 20G sumo began to leak. So I had to act fast and grab another 20G at Petco for a quick swap. What a pain in the rear end. #honestyinreefing

So yesterday and today I took it upon myself to build the floating canopy for the 80G. I had this somewhat well planned out in my head.

A while back I found in the clearance isle of Homedepot 4ft T5HO dual bulbs for $14. I plan on pairing these up with 2 Viparspectrad or a 36 evergrow that I currently own.

I built the base out 2x4 and used pallet wood for a finished look.

Next is to sand and finish poly coat. On the inside I plan on painting it white to help with light reflection. I also need to find some reflectors for T5HOs.

Here is john at his desk in the basement wishing he could find his red stapler.

10g QT chugging away:

2nd QT with some yellow thing in it:

The "Holy Grail Nem tank" where he has higher nutrients and keeps all his sticks before they get moved to the frag tank.
A midnight clown and a zebra sailfin tang keep it up for him:

And the beloved 40b frag system stuffed to brim:

He scored a surprise tag when this gem transformed and he realized he had a unique friend, which he has since I.D.'ed as a Blue-Lipped bristletooth. And it's a beauty:

Heres where the magic happens:

And here is the 80g shallow peninsula that he has been cycling for idk, a year almost?

John is what u call, an "Introvert Reefer"

He does this for nothing more than his own passion. Not for likes, views, or all that. Just for himself. And I love him for that.

Great update Juice.... I mean Rich.

Love the setup and the Tangs! The Chocolate/Mimic is one I've always wanted to keep.

I got him at the local petco next to @RichtheReefer21. He stuck out like a sore thumb. They had him labeled as a bristle tooth. 2 more weeks of observation and he going into the 80G.
