They act really weird. They float in the current making them look dead.
Good to know. That is what it does head down. Long nose hawk found it as an easy target that is why it’s in a box. Trying to catch LNH so I can move him to a 20 gallon for a time out.
If things went perfect it wouldn’t be reefing lol.

They are great. Yep slow swimmers with burst. They much rather float on the current

I find it adds to the uniqueness of them. When it let me scoop it out of the bag and never moved in my hand I thought it was a goner
Thanks for educating me. I’ll sleep better now

Fingers crossed for ya.. lookin forward to some pics of the little bugger :)
LNH is a jerk for a few days on small new fish but filefish is an easy of a catch. I’ll leave filefish in safe space and try and catch LNH to house in 20 gallon for awhile.

What I discovered past month or so.
Always hear don’t chase PH. Bull crap if you want growth. I have over doubled alk consumption staying 8.2-8.3 from 7.9-8.1. If I run my fuge light a few hours longer in the morning I can keep PH from dropping more. You can see the last drop when fuge light turns off. It shuts off before tank lights come on. Not saying to start to chase PH but if you want more growth and everything else is good then it may be what your looking for.
Graph is the past week

Filefish makes 1” pvc look huge

Filefish was a bonus fish. I went to TSM aquatics for a pintail and filamented flasher. Flasher I picked has a beat up tail. Pulling for the under dog to be the hidden gem lol.

Pintail was ready to get out in open waters so I opened the box. Took the filamented a few hours before leaving.

Pintail stays at water line making the tank lights a challenge taking picture. Got this one under blues only when lights first come on

Filamented has a man crush on the Madagascar. She will flash and bump him until he has enough and puts her in her place. She won’t leave his side

Tank is very busy with 7 wrasse but hope to sneak a few more in after thing settle in.

Fuge seems to be slowly lowering NO3 but hard to tell with big gaps in test kit. PO4 is always a pain. Slowly goes up then GFO drops it fast. To solve that problem I will be dropping more pellets during auto feeding to try and run gfo mixed with ROX .8 at all times. Once a month change them both.

Triton core7 has been a great piece of the puzzle lately and couldn’t be happier. Dosing alk,Ca,Mag in equal parts for the first time. excited to see how it works in the long run

I miss my filamented, a couple of fish incidents caused it to vanish, such a pretty fish.
Sorry she/he went missing. Fish can be brutal at times. Lost a couple to jerks but rehomed most.before I lost more.
Mine has no filaments but hope they come as she grows. She is about 3.81 centimeters or do you use millimeters. You’ll figure it out. Such a cutie anyway.

The neon purple on the cheek has to be seen in person when they flash, it is one of the few fish I might replace just because it was so pretty!

Store lights never show wrasse coloring. She looked all red and I didn’t know what to expect. When she flashed I was in for a great treat.
I think blue flasher might be another hidden gem.

I could over stock an 8’ tank. So many gems and many more I don’t know about yet.

My view when I come home from work. I always great them with dinner.

How many fish can you find? 13 fish in tank but not saying how many are in the picture.

I got 11. So close. To be honest the last one doesn’t look like a fish and is hard to see.

Still need to do the right side rocks. They are thrown in a pile butt of now. I want to move the rock in the center to create two structures. It does feel like a 2 reef. Can’t waitt to get coral of frag racks!

Eleventeen!
I like the look Don it’s. Natural pile with a slight slash in center the open ends really grab me for the swim space but plenty of areas to retreat in center
