I have a emergency situation a couple of my fish have ich. I have been low on funds. So I bought microbe-lift herbtana. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks it sure is keeping my fish from getting too sick, im now got a 20 gallon tank and all the stuff to go with it just waiting on it to cycle. I'm still dosing my 75 every night, while shutting the skimmer down and using a air stone. I also have been feeding them 3 times a day. Keeping them as healthy as I can. I now have the hospital set up and running. I read that you could use water from your main tank. So I added 10 gallons from my 75 and 10 gallons of rodi salt water. I had some dr. Tims one and only in the fridge from my 75 set up. So I added the recommended dose and added ammonia chloride too 1ppm. Cranked the temp up to 84 and let it go. It's been 2 days my ammonia has dropped too .75ppm and no nitrite 0 ppm. I have a clean tank with just some pvc in it and the hob filter. The question is how long will this tank take to cycle or do I not even need to worry about cycling it since you have to change the water so much. I need to get my fish in this tank asap, of coursei know i gotta get the temp back down. Sorry for such a long thread. But I wanted to make sure I covered everything.

Once your ammonia raises And comes back down and is at zero for 4-5 days and nitrate is steady at 20or below- you should be good

I have been putting the med in my reef tank for my fishes health. I'm have cupramine for the q.t.

Cupramine should be dosed at 0.50 ppm for 14 days beyond the date that the last spots were seen (usually around 20 days).

I'm ready to dose my first dose of cupramine and I bought the Hanna cooper tester like I was recommended too. Any recommendations on how to do this correctly.

IIRC, the bottle of Cupramine has you add two half doses a day apart. Test before adding the second dose, if you get a reading of 0.25, then add the complete second dose to bring it up to 0.50. If your reading is higher or lower than 0.25 after the first dose, you need to adjust your second dose accordingly (mathematical proportions).

Do you add 40 drops to my 20 gallon QT? Also do I add it directly to the tank or mix up 2 gallons and do a water change and add the cooper to the 2 gallons. Then add to the tank or does it matter?

Your 20 gallon tank may only hold 18 gallons or so. I would add 18 drops, wait 24 hours and then test the tank. If you are at 0.25 ppm, then add another 18 drops. If you are above or below 0.25, you need to adjust the dose proportionally. If you get me your reading, I can do the math for you.

Then, for water changes, you would add 4 drops per gallon of new seawater that you are adding to the tank, and then let it mix well in your tank and test the final dose.

My question is can I acclimate new fish to the Q.T. while there is cooper already in it? Stupid question I'm sure
Yes, you can, but the treatment count needs to start over on day one for all of the fish.

Ok it's been almost 48 hours. Well it will be in a little while, from adding my first dose of cooper. My son bought 2 clowns last night so I acclimated them to the qt last light as well. I tested the cooper it's at .17 ppm. What's next brother?

Full Cupramine dose is 0.50. You need to add the second half of the dose, let it circulate for a day and test again. You may be a bit short, so you might need to add a tiny third dose to get to 0.50

I just tested cooper again and it is .28 now. I added 18 drops on the second dose. I have a 30 gallon hang on filter on the back with bio bale in it and a air foam bubble filter. How much do you think I need to add?
