Sad reality when messing with aquarium reefs...
Basically destroying homes for so many things. This was a hiding, sleeping area for probably 10 fishes. Now they just sit in corners of the tank..
But whay can we do? this is controlled systems with limited space!

Yah, I'd throw a few random rocks in there, just to give the fish a few places to be more comfortable.

When it's gonna be in there temporarily for the long term like that, I'd add a few smaller pieces of rock, attach some monti frags to them as well. Let all the pieces, your main monti rock and the smaller temporary ones, all grow out together. Once a decent size and you no longer need the smaller ones for fish shelter, sell or trade them off.

win-win.

oh yah btw, those colonies looked amazing, you've reminded me how much I'm a fan of monti capricornis'!

With my current aquascape I thought by giving them 30x30" floor space maybe i would be OK for many more years, but nope, they grew way to fast for 2 years time. These is full tank shot couple weeks ago. Monitora is right in middle of the tank. It was almost growing unto other structures with acropora colonies.

Those fish will be fine. They just need few days to accept the reality.
