I’ve been dosing a 2 part trace addition by hand for about 6 months and it’s time I setup pumps for it. I have 2 spare Kamoer X1 pumps sitting around and two dosing containers. The pumps seem to use a smaller 3mm ID tubing while the dosing container uses the standard 1/4 (so 1/8” ID). Is there an easy way to adapt these together?

I’ve tried looking online for barbed adapters but it isn’t easy to find going from metric to standard. I’m sure I’m not the first to need to up the size tubing on an X1.

Your x1 pumps didn't come with these? I have four x1s and they all came with these adapters in the box.

Good question. My Kamoers were used for a short amount of time and then put into storage, so I don’t remember. I know the tubing in the head is smaller, and if my memeory is right (which it may not be) that is the adapter that takes it from whatever size tubing is in the head to the 3mmx5mm tubing that they provide. Am I wrong about that?

Not sure, you are probably correct. Now I am all confused. I will try to find an actual box and see what is in there.

So when I got home I checked, and the only fitting that it includes is the one the goes from the head to the provided 3mm ID tubing. I tried seeing if a 1/4 tube would fit over that fitting instead of the supplied tubing and the fitting is too small.
When I look for barbed fittings they’re not mixed with one side being metric and the other being standard.

Could you use some silicone tubing that would stretch to fit?

Not likely. I need the ID to be 3mm for the pump and I need the OD to be 1/4 for the dosing container. As common as the pump is I never imagined it would be this hard to find an adapter.
Either way thanks for the suggestion

Actually I just realized it may work I’ll just get a 1/8 to 1/8 barbed adapter and buy a smaller silicone tubing to force over the one barbed end and the 1/4 inch tubing will work on the other end.
Thanks again for your help

I am not sure exactly you are trying to do. I have adapted my x1 pumps to pull from 1/4 inch fittings like this.

Do you know what that fitting is on the left bottle, if that barb is 1/8 then that would actually work too. I may be able to get the provided vinyl tubing stretched over the barb (I probably can it’s only 1/8mm larger than the tubing).

Im surprised you’re able to get a good seal on the right bottle with the tubing going into the barbed fitting inside of outside.

The fitting on the left bottle is actually the one that came with my Versa pump. I believe that it is 1/4 stem to 3/16 barb. I was able to force the standard Kamoer tubing on it after warming it up without much resistance and have not had any issues.
The left one I cobbled together with a 1/4 stem to 1/4 barb murlok adapter and 3mm od silicone tubing. It was what I had on hand and has worked great so far, not ideal. Obviously I have not drilled the cap for the 1/4 bulkhead fitting yet.

Both have the 1/4 acrylic pickup tube on the other side of the bulkhead.

I actually found a fitting in my miscellaneous fish tank stuff that is 1/4 stem to a barb that the factory vinyl tube fit inside the barb end perfectly. Now I just need to figure out what size the barb is.

What did you end up using and did you solve it? I'm in the same boat.
I just have the one that I found when I posted this thread, which went inside a barbed fitting which I don’t especially like.

So I just started looking at them again and I just ordered some 3/16 to 1/8 barbed reducers from Amazon. I don’t know if it is the right size or not but it was said to work from a user on this thread so I’ll try it out.

If you want to wait until June 2 -June 6 (the delivery date) I will let you know if they worked for me.

If you want one that *should work, they sell the kamoer 1/8 to 1/4 reducing barb fitting on coralvues site for 1.73 each. Search for CV-KAM-KCCN162.

I have the same “issue” too because I want to connect mine to some dosing containers I bought. I want gonna get these and more tubing for my f4 but if you don’t spend 50 for free shipping, shipping is kinda op. I’ll do it eventually though

It would be really nice if they offered a 1/8 barb to 1/4 ptc style fitting. I presume that this would be in high demand.
