For mechanical filtration I use filter media cups with floss, held by a filter sock holder, inside a felt filter sock.

Nice. So where is the stuff we should be snobs about
Ummm Chinese light, softies, and the gsp I will add when I find some cheap lol. floral paneling? I guess I never felt people were snobs so much, just more my attitude toward my own tank, was that I needed more and better and most difficult to keep, so I was never happy with what I had. I enjoyed my tank more when I stepped away from the forums so I wasn’t comparing myself all the time. So more me and my issue than forums themselves.

Na reefing is a personal preference. Everything in this hobby is so expensive any chance I get to DIY something so I can spend money on livestock helps feed the coral addiction:) I definitely like how you have stuff setup! Keep it coming!

Not much new in the tank except I’m apparently a sucker for live sales. Who knew? So there are lots of new corals in the tank. I need to take some new pictures soon. Only other livestock change is I am down to 1 (from 2) neon gobies. Hardware change would be I’ve gotten an icecap co2 scrubber to replace my converted 2 little fishies reactor.
yesterdays (pre water change) parameters:
salinity 1.025
ph 8.15
nitrate 5-6
phosphate .04
alk 8.7
calcium 431
mg 1290
temp 78.8

So a million years ago I started with a 12 gallon nano and did weekly water changes...and have continued that practice throughout the years. Like today I did a water change that was prolly about 14 gallons. It’s just how much water my rodi makes on a 4 hr timer and fits nicely in my water mixing container and I know exactly how much salt it takes yadayada. But I keep telling myself I don‘t really need to change that much Water out weekly. 65 ish gallon display, 40 breeder sump. So like 80-85 gallons of water all told? I would save some on salt cutting it back to 8 gallons a week. But I’m just keep doing what I’m used to. And the tank goes on.
