Hi guys

Recently moved house and starting the build of my new 200gal reef.

The tank of choice was a CADE 1800 Pro Reef.
They are very popular in Australia and making their way to the US reefing scene I think.

this thread will follow my build and progress to date on my tank build.

hope you like it

Laundry has been setup with the RODI.
These are 100L tanks and I use a small pump to move the water between my tank and these containers. The distance is about 15meters

my TDS is about 100before it hits the 4 stage unit.
after first stage it drops to 4 TDS and after the second to 0 TDS.

While waiting for my tank to arrive I’ve been busy cycling CaribSea Life rock and setting up the water change system.

I have a 1000L IBC setup at the back of my house and the pluming is done to the front of the house. My water guy delivers my water and I don’t have to be home when he does it.

I am planning to use natural sea water for my tank. Water is delivered already filtered down to 10micron and buffered to the correct salinity and Alk.
I have also been cycling my rock to speed up the process for a month before the tank arrived. I used DrTim’s fishless cycling method

As you will notice this build thread is a little late, so I am doing individual posts to catch up to my current situation . I hope that’s ok.

Tank arrived on two pallets and it took 7 people to bring it into the house. It was probably the hardest thing we had to do so far.

what is really nice is that the stand is assembled and ready to go.

Only thing required was the plumming which is also supplied.

The glass on this tank is 19mm thick. It’s Ultra clear low iron glass. It looks absolutely stunning in person.

The bottom of the tank is white which is great as I plan to go bare bottom. Even if you go sand and your pumps expose the bottom it will still look nice I think.

The command centre is coming along.
What is really nice about these CADE tanks is the side access on the cabinets. It’s a really nice touch!

Installed my:
- return pump (Vectra M2)
2 x MP40 Mobius
- Cove skimmer
- Seneye to watch NH3, PH, temp
- InkBird controlled for heaters just in case
- 4 x XR15 Blue Radions
- 360X Refugium light

I am pretty happy how the cable management is turning out.

Tank has been up and running for 10 weeks.
Only enjoying some moonlight lighting to keep the algae at bay until about a 4 month mark

you can see the Refugium light coming through the bottom of the tank so I decided to get some black vinyl to cover the cotton of the tank from the underside

One struggle I am having at the moment is being unable to source a SpectraPure LiterMeter III. I’ve spent a fair bit of time to get the water system setup for automatic changes counting for this unit.

the reason I am interested in the LiterMiter III units is the distance of my IBC to the tank. It’s over 30M away. nothing else comes close to these pumps in terms of ability.

the US distributor hasn’t had any for sale for months and doesn’t have an ETA

Does anyone know where I can find a good second hand unit? I either need 2 units or 1 main unit and the secondary pump. Anyone has one sitting on the shelf that they no longer use?

Wow! I’ve never heard of Cade aquariums until recently and I’m not sure I’ve run across one on here; it looks stunning! From your first pics, it looks like the ATO container is built into the back of the tank?
What are your stocking plans?

Also, after so many posts and so much time on the forum, you are able to post in the for sale/want to buy forums. There’s a good chance someone has the pump you’re looking for.

Thanks, they are great tanks and very popular in Australia.
Yes, the ATO is built behind the display and holds about 19gal.
It's gravity fed into the sump with a float switch.

It lasts me about 9 days before I have to top it off on this 207gal system.

My main cycle is complete and tank is only 10 weeks old so I am working on my patience.
Trying to keep the lights off most of the time and only turn them on now and then on very low intensity

So not rushing to stock anything until about 4 months old if i can help it.
At the moment the only fish in there are couple of clowns and a regal tang.
Would like to get some open water swimmers like anthias, blue/green chromis, tangs
It is likely going to be mixed reef with LPS and softies on the bottom and SPS closer to the surface

Unfortunately I am not allowed to post there. It says I have insufficient privileges to create threads which is why I was asking here. It's probably because I am new and not trustworthy yet.

I may have missed it but why no substrate? Why have egg crate on the bottom? Why not just bare bottom?
