I have a lavender tang in qt. It has been in at for 30 days with copper power at 1.75 via Hanna checker. If it is can I treat with general cure and is it possible to treat with copper in the tank or not. Also have some wrasses in qt with him would they need a round of general cure as well. Thank for help.

That doesn't look like flukes to me, but a round of GC would be a good idea. Can you get a better picture under white light?

He is eating well and acts fairly normal. He does swim by the rocks and tries to scratch himself so I figured he has something. Everything else in the qt tank appears fine.

This looks to me like a secondary infection or lymphocystis which would be due in part from water quality
What is your ammonia-nitrate-salinity levels
Water quality plays a role with skin infection and also diet
Be sure to add garlic and vitamins such as selcon to the diet
If it progresses, furan 2 comes to mind but it also can cause ammonia spikes
@Jay Hemdal - thoughts?

That’s a qt tank only so those rocks where just for that tank. I have a ammonia badge and it shows good. Salinity is right on and I feed lrs and nori.

Try and get a physical ammonia and nitrate test. I have no trust in ammonia badge. Take a water sample to a trusted LFS and have them test for you. Nori and LFS good, but they need more

So should I try and treat with general cure and if so can I use at same time as copper. Plus different or more food options

Before copper, I would add to diet and general cure is good as it is formalin based. Formalin baths daily would be ideal but good luck catching that lavender daily

I think the reason they say no rocks is so the rocks don't absorb the medication or leach out phosphates. Also is the fish keeps scratching I would think it can prolong the revival time. if there are no rocks there is nothing for him to scratch on

Ok. Makes since. I was testing copper each week to make sure it was in line but I understand. I will just take the out and put some pvc pieces in.
